Of course they would want vegetarians to not eat vegetables.

This is what I call a medium post!

Why is that?
#187 to #186 - sparkieemae (09/08/2012) [-]
Because it isn't rare, and it certainly isn't well done!

I'm a vegetarian, purely because it makes me feel sick to think I'm eating an animals skin and flesh, wouldn't dream of trying to change other people's minds though :)

I have a ****** up diet, because I don't care what I eat. I'm really not one to judge vegans for having ****** up diets because they actually care. Eat whatever you want, I don't really give a **** . Seriously, I've been constipated for the last 8 days, something horrible is happening to my intestines. Ugh...
User avatar #171 to #166 - buttplugmaster (09/08/2012) [-]
I'm sorry to tell you you either have intestinal parasites or you need more fiber in your diet. Both are terrible options, but lets hope for the parasites, shall we?

I think it's one of those meter-long worms that slide out of your ass eventually. If it ever climbs out, I'll keep it as a pet.
User avatar #174 to #173 - buttplugmaster (09/08/2012) [-]
What would you name it though?
User avatar #175 to #174 - sabotagesam (09/08/2012) [-]
I'd name it Slippers. And when it eventually dies, I'm going to stuff it and use it as footwear, so I would always remember it.

I'm just gonna say this

I've actually never in my life been lectured or yelled at by a vegetarian to stop eating meat. In fact, every vegetarian and vegan I've met has been a completely normal person and didn't try to change my eating habits at all...

Either I live in a very nice area, or meat eaters are less tolerant of vegetarians than vegetarians are to them...
#136 - minecraftking (09/08/2012) [-]
Venus fly traps actually don't eat meat (bugs) they get the nutrients from the bugs that the don't get from the soil. do to them living in very nutrient deficient soil they get all of the energy they need from the sun as well as most plants. we eat meat for protein and energy.
#140 to #136 - julianak (09/08/2012) [-]
Point is, I believe, that they still kill those bugs for said nutrients.
#141 to #140 - minecraftking (09/08/2012) [-]
but there is a difference between eating and nutrient gathering

You aren't going to die if you eat spaghetti with no meat balls. The difference is frivolous eating for enjoyment and actual necessity for survival.
#189 to #184 - drmrniceguy (09/08/2012) [-]
Sure, you could TECHNICALLY survive off a variety of different diets- regular, no meat, hospital juices, vitamins and bread, rocks, no solids, no wheat germ, no flour, etc. but which is the least troublesome to get accustomed to?

What the mainstream does. Eat everything.

I wake up, I want and egg and cheese sandwich. Then maybe for a snack I'll eat some self seasoned ramen (the seasoning has animal fat)
Then maybe for lunch a bean cheese and rice burrito. Then maybe for dinner some chowmein and curry with potatoes.

Not that hard to accustom yourself to. I am not spending extra money or going far out of my way, I just, don't, eat, it. Not hard.

Sounds not too bad. Are you doing it for a moral reason, or because you don't like the taste?
#196 to #195 - sparkieemae (09/09/2012) [-]
Well I became one when I was really fat my sophmore year of highschool and it was partially for moral reasons, and partially to prove that I could do it. As a side effect from cutting meat out I ended up losing a lot of my extra fat and feeling a lot more energetic and generally just better so I just stick to it now.
#197 to #196 - drmrniceguy (09/09/2012) [-]
So being a vegetarian is better for you as a person. Power to you, brother!

But I gotta have my steak. :P

No probs I'm not one to force my lifestyle. I just believe its something that people would benefit from more then they generally realize.

It sucks because generally people aren't more open to it because certain individuals think that the way to get their point across is by throwing a bloody fit.

I realized how ignorant people can be (including myself) when my brother forced me to like the new My Little Pony (I hated it before).

So, I know where you're coming from.

Maybe if you know how to film well/have a passion for film making, you can make a sweet documentary about the pros of being vegatarian and unclouding everyone's thoughts on it?

User avatar #143 to #141 - chezburgadominator (09/08/2012) [-]
You do understand when we, as humans, eat, our bodies gather the nutrients from the food we eat and the rest is turned into waste that goes out of our body. "Nutrient Gathering" and "Eating" atleast in the terms you describe, are the same thing.
User avatar #134 - chiefrunnyjeans (09/08/2012) [-]
I don't like to eat meat from factory farms. It is really ****** up and wrong how they treat animals and I'm glad PETA is helping shut them down.
I try to eat only free range meat (real organic). I would hunt my own animals but I can't because of where I live :(
#157 to #134 - rotinaj (09/08/2012) [-]
Yeah, but the downside is that you can't help PETA out because they're ******* retarded with the **** they do sometimes. Seriously, they wanted to make ben n jerrys make their ice cream with human milk. That's just silly
#161 to #157 - rotinaj (09/08/2012) [-]
Speaking of bad conditions for food, you should look into where cocoa comes from. Lots of big chocolate companies (like hersheys and cadburry) get their cocoa from child labor and sweatshops/slave camps in Africa.
You need to login to view this link this kind of talks about it if you wanted to know

That's like saying everyone should be a vegetarian because some animals are herbivorous.
