But by that logic, god exists and if god exist. That means that science would have proven that god exists.

but according to christians, god exists outside of any physical manifestation(or as they put it, not part of the universe.)

so they pretty much excluded him from every universe.
User avatar #270 to #9 - armenhart (09/08/2012) [-]
science isn't going out to prove that god doesn't exist. they are separate matters. science only wants to research in order to find out the truth. or so i'm told....

What would be wrong with that? Many scientists are religious

"I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."
"there is at least 1 universe where you exist" says man, "and if you exist, you created everything. It proves that You exist, and so therefore, by Your own arguments, You don't."
"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.
"Oh, that was easy," says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed on the next zebra crossing.

its not as science denies the existance of god in total.that would be stupid

there just isnt any proof of the existance of god and the whole thing just sounds too illogical to us.

thus until further proof is given scientist believe that there isnt god.
User avatar #161 to #13 - dafunkad ONLINE (09/07/2012) [-]
"scientist believe that there isnt god" , that statement is false, they aren't denying the existence of god,

(that doesn't mean he exist)
#80 to #13 - mrzomgomg (09/07/2012) [-]
there is a difference between "not believing there is X" and "believing there is not X"
the former being the default (the default also includes "not believing there isnt X")
#554 to #80 - anon (09/08/2012) [-]
The possibility of aliens existing is higher. but I can't believe in aliens exist before we find proof that they exist, there is a possibility that alien life might exist even in our universe.

but don't believe something just because its possible. believe something when you have enough evidence of its existence.
User avatar #584 to #554 - flutterdoc (09/08/2012) [-]
well if you take it from a purely statistical stand point there has to be aliens, there are several hundred galaxies we can see each with several billions stars. of the stars in our immediate vicinity 1/4 have gas giants, which are necessary to the survival of a planet such as ours because they shield us from meteors. so it is safe to assume that there are probably salver billion other planets like our in our galaxy, whether they support sentient life is another matter entirely.

Look, I am totally in favor of christians, but god has nothing to do with science, and its cool that way, God would lose all his sense if you could just dissect him through reason
#524 to #419 - anon (09/08/2012) [-]
A God described in the Judeo-Christian worldview would have made everything, including logic and time and reason.... So have fun with that

I suppose we could apply the same principal to, for instance, God, and finally stop arguing about the subject...

But where's the fun in that?

but a being like God would not be confined to just one or a few universes or multiverses. it is very likely He transcends all of them anyway. but if you want to argue that point, the marvel universe has "the one above all" regardless of that
User avatar #194 to #190 - galaxyguy (09/08/2012) [-]
I don't want to argue any points at all, since I'm here to laugh BUT...

With this infinite ammount of alternate universes, then yes, there will be universes where God exists, as well as universes where he can transcend universes, much like some universes' santas can transcend universes.

Alternately, there are also an uncountable ammount of universes where God is a balding red-haired caucasian store-clerk working down at your local Wallmart or Wallmart equivelant.
User avatar #201 to #194 - metajunky (09/08/2012) [-]
agreed that i am only here to laugh too but this case must be made. how would God, an omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent being that existed before the omniverse, bound to only one universe or multiple ones? an omnipotent being of that status would likely transcend all possible and impossible realities and would be the only one of His type to conceivably exist, otherwise that defeat the purpose of being omnipotent of course
User avatar #206 to #201 - galaxyguy (09/08/2012) [-]
But with an infinite number of alternate universes, it would be conceivable that there would be alternate universes where God ISN'T omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent.

But there's also alternate universes where he IS omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent.
User avatar #215 to #206 - metajunky (09/08/2012) [-]
but you view God as some being that must abide by the rules of the omniverse. since the general belief of God is that He existed PRIOR to the creation of the omniverse, and that He was the only being during that period, it means that He exists outside of existence and is not affected by the laws that He created. so there would be only one version of Him then. and since the definition of God is to be truely omnipotent, then it is likely He, who was before anyone or anything else, would will that there would be only one version of Him present everywhere at all times too

sorry if i come across as a Bible-thumper, but this is an interesting thought activity

I enjoy the concept of a possible number of an infinite universes, because by it's standing, there are no actual restrictions to what you accomplish, or can't accomplish, but it's a good way of being optimistic.

<- It also means that in some universe, this monster is ******* real, and that means the theory is awsome.
