As a female, I'm not much of a chef. I can cook, but it's not my ambition or anything. This doesn't really relate to cooking or driving, but I can play a few games better than some of my guy friends. I even played Amnesia without getting scared, well, without reacting outwardly anyways. One of my guy friends quit at two minutes in.

But then again, two of my guyfriends and I all love taking care of children and babies. We all get along with kids, kids look up to us and we all help out with them and sometimes get paid. But one of them (my friend) knows how to hold babies and I dont. Not yet, at least.

So if you wanna hear that "guys are better than girls" then fine. You win. But it's not the truth. We're equal. But I respect whatever you want to believe as long as you respect whatever I want to believe.
User avatar #22 to #10 - desuforeverlulz (09/04/2012) [-]
We're not equal. There's a trade-off whether you're a man or a woman. For example, men tend to have strong upper bodies, and women tend to be very flexible. Different physiques is just scraping at the surface.
User avatar #49 to #22 - AnonymousWraith (09/04/2012) [-]
We are equal. Just because men are stronger or women are more flexible doesn't mean either are "better." It is, however, true that men are stronger than women. I wouldn't want to fight a guy to prove women are stronger, because we obviously are not.
User avatar #147 to #49 - ilovehitler ONLINE (09/04/2012) [-]
Overall, we are equal. In individual points, we are unequal.
User avatar #201 to #49 - desuforeverlulz (09/04/2012) [-]
I'm not saying one gender is better than the other, I'm saying we aren't equal because of all the things that make us different. The farmer is not equal to the painter, not because the painter makes more money at his trade, but because the farmer is skilled at farming and the painter isn't, and vice versa.
User avatar #203 to #201 - AnonymousWraith (09/04/2012) [-]
I think we have different definitions of equal. Let's just drop this and be friends.

Women actually have better peripheral vision than men do which would make them drive better. And that wreck was caused by Hulk Hogan's son. I'm probably going to get thumbed down because everybody on this site hates women.

Several studies have shown that heterosexual men are better at both navigating by north-south directions and at orienting themselves in three dimensional space than women. Why did men win the spatial perception jackpot? No, the answer isn't sex this time, it's food. Well, actually, it's both.

In the days before grocery stores and mini malls, mankind had to actually go hunt and gather for his daily mammoth chops. Scientists think that testosterone helped early men find their way home again after a long day of hunting, ensuring that they were the ones impregnating their mates and continuing their line while the spatially challenged became saber tooth tiger snacks.

Not only that, but one researcher actually scanned the brains of over a million kids and found that by age four, the boys were already surpassing the girls in spatial ability by a ratio of 4:1. She also found that while girls did just fine at seeing two dimensions in the brain, boys had the ability to see a third dimension, allowing them to understand the concept of depth at an earlier age.

And yeah... the same isn't necessarily true for gay men, who tend to navigate like women. Literally. That was not an insult.

Statistically, women are involved in slightly fewer serious accidents than men (they get in about the same amount, just men's tend to be more serious, and the dollar difference is only a few percentage points), and this difference is barely measurable at all outside the lower age groups. Teenage and 20 something males indeed drive faster and more recklessly than females. Anybody that's been to high school knows this much. And it's hardly a newsflash that males are more aggressive than females. Also, on average, men drive much more than women, and even though the accident figures are based on miles driven, fatigue is a factor in many serious accidents, and I think it has to be considered. Anyway, this statistic anomaly seems to be reversing in recent years. Accident related deaths for females are increasing, and for males, decreasing. I happen to think cell phones have a lot to do with that. But males, at least in my opinion, are better at handling a car. Based on both data and personal experience. No one can claim any longer that females are prevented by petty predjudices, socialization, physical differences or any other thing from competing in racing sports or stunt driving, yet males still dominate. And even though both of my wives were very good drivers (my second wife had been driving almost 24 years when we broke up, and never even got a ticket, let alone cause a wreck), but when it came to backing up a trailer, driving on snow or ice, and yeah, or even parallel parking a car in a tight space, there was never any question about who would get stuck with the job, and it was always me.
#180 to #179 - anon (09/04/2012) [-]
-c- (Damn Anon wait time) We also took a lot of long trips, related to both business and recreation, and there were many times when I would drive (mostly because of my wretched impatience. Like to get where I'm going. Hate being stuck in the truck or car) for 12-16 hours at a time with nothing besides gas and piss breaks. And It seems this is the case with a lot of families. Certainly with most of the ones I know. When they go on long trips its usually the male that does the bulk of the driving.
#75 - helenwheels (09/04/2012) [-]
As long as we're looking under rocks of ridiculously old unfunny only loved by 12 year old jokes, the statistics for car accidents are actually higher among men. By quite a lot.
User avatar #84 to #75 - vulcanvulcan (09/04/2012) [-]
Only fatalities, and men do 60-65% of driving so of course they get in more big accidents, though females get in more minor crashes. So you are wrong is what I am saying.
User avatar #100 to #84 - chuffberry (09/04/2012) [-]
the big problem with those statistics, though, is that those minor accidents are also much more common among the elderly, and there are significantly more female elderly drivers than male elderly drivers, so it's difficult to tell if minor accidents are associated with gender or age.
#85 to #84 - helenwheels (09/04/2012) [-]

User avatar #93 to #92 - vulcanvulcan (09/04/2012) [-]
It's saying it evens out more or less. I don't remember the exact statistics, though it was something like 60% of accidents are female and 40% are male. Could be off by a bit, trying to remember from a few years back in drivers ed. And insurance companies only charge males more because of how much more expensive their accidents tend to be.
