The thing about modern Atheism is that there are a lot of younger Atheists springing up, and that's cool. There's nothing wrong with having your own spiritual beliefs.

However, these new Atheists are under the impression that because of their new belief, they are automatically more intelligent than religious people.
The fact that religion has been unable to actually prove the existence of an omnipotent creator means that religious people are stupid and therefore which makes these kids smart because they don't believe in that **** any more.

Hence the "YOURE' RELIGIONUS YOUR STUPID SCIENCE FTW".

Some pagan Societies are Religious, ie: Tengrii, and they studied everything from Earth science and Astronomy extensively, they turned their findings into beliefs and such, to some extent, and also used their findings for more effective means of agricultural advancement.

But thats just the point, evolution isnt a theory anymore, it is observable in each generation. Its where house pets came from, farm animals even the ******* bananas and roses you have in your house. There is simply too much evidence to deny it. Creationism is a dying breed.

I think their argument is that we haven't found mid-way creatures

I.e. If we and apes evolved from a common ancestor, why have we not found fossils of said common ancestor?

For the record, I'm not a Christian
#348 to #347 - guidedhand
Reply -1
(08/29/2012) [-]
but we have however found the midway creatures for countless other species and for that point alone, evolution is undeniable. If it is evident with just ONE other species, than it proves it as a fact of life, maybe not that we evolved, but that it can and has been occurring. After that, its only a matter of time.

When you look at the statistics on how similar our DNA is other mammals, you would have to be dangerously ignorant to discount a common ancestor. There is always the possibility that at one point during human evolution, mankind resort to cremation, mass graves or some other form burial that would make it incredibly difficult to find a specimen (unlikely, but you can leave it to scifi to explain this point)

I've read the Byzantine Codeces (what the bible was before it was the Bible) The Torah, and the Qu'ran. Also Various Pagan Stories, etc.
I was even Brought up Eastern Orthodox, and spent a few months in a Monastery. I've also touched base on various micro religions, ie WBC, and things of that nature, though they don't really matter.

Personally I'm just spiritual, I don't have strong feelings one way or another.
Also there's a lot more to Christianity than just Half the bible bro.

Besides. Religion isn't a thing that is meant to be argued.
Philosophy and perception perhaps, but not Religion. It's just silly to think that one's beliefs are superior to others.

Thats all beside the point though, you insulted atheists as a whole saying most of us dont know anything about what were talking about. We wouldnt preach an idea based on facts if we were ignorant to those facts.

Besides, anyone who believes everything that is written in the bible as literal Facts, and not as messages, is ******* retarded.
That's what we call a Fundamentalist.
Most people, (Like you or I) are not that, though there may be many, ie: Jihadists, and various other religious warriors.

Looking at Religion with a Scientific Point of view is kinda stupid. That's like looking at space through a Microscope instead of a Telescope.

Besides, I don't understand why people try to disprove religion in the first place, it's kind of retarded, forcing one's beliefs on another like that.

Personally I believe people should feel whatever they like.

from the opinion of rock solid (i cringe to say the word) 'beliefs' in big bang, evolution etc, i find that people who cannot see this as a universal truth almost insulting, almost like turning their backs ignorant to a truth. Especially when many of these people have no evidence to support their ideas.

Well no ****.
Ofcourse you'd be insulted if someone thought your beliefs were wrong.
The same way Christians get buttflustered when you tell them that there is no god.

Imo, just let people believe what they want, it's not like it's going to change anything major in the future.

Besides. I've realized something about humanity. Humans are Arrogant assholes, and for the most part, use their intelligence to argue with other people.

Essentially if everyone knew everything they'd use their vast knowledge to be dicks to eachother on the internet.

Though I am quite proud to be part of the asshole species.

I love how theirs unity in Beliefs.
Also I was not insulting Anyone, and apologies if you took it that way, bro.
Also it isn't besides the point, you asked me "What about you" (If that's what WBU means)

besides. Preaching Ideas is the sort of thing that's starts silly flamewars in the first place. Everything from the Crusades, to Jihad, to this internet debarkle.

Also you fail to see my point. Not all Religions believe in a God or Brahman.
Buddhism for an example. They believe in a Real man who set forth a list of values.
It's a system of Beliefs.

Also, about the Proof thing:
Faith is this:
Believing in something regardless of its presence.
Proof and Science have no place in Religion, that's just silly, the two are completely different.

(08/28/2012) [-]
But what you have there is a straw man argument, believing in something regardless of its presence is detrimental. For example, if i Bellevile in the FSP or IPU, everyone knows they are not, and can not be real. They are simply against the laws of physics. And to any observer, they could see that i believe in a obviously false pretence and could/would be better off knowing the truth

But my point is Science has no place in Religion.
That's sort of the point. People are allowed to believe whatever they want, even if it is a magic man in the sky.
Are you not just as bad as they if you try and force your beliefs on them?

Besides. Regardless of the amount of detriment such a thing could cause, it's still the way faith works, one way or another.
Some people kill for their beliefs, others knock on your door and give you a necklace.
Religion is too expansive to define by one statement.
