Coincidence? I. Think. NOT!. Destruction of townsville.. Surely Gendy Tartakovsky, the creator of both shows, wouldn't just throw in references like that. Oh wait... yes he would.

Wrong, Craig McCracken created Powerpuff GIrls. Gendy Tartakovsky was merely a producer and director on it.
User avatar #12 to #11 - hadrian (08/26/2012) [-]
Damn, you are right. However, being the producer and director still gives him ample opportunity to do cross-references in shows. I wonder if he included anything from Dexter's Lab in Samurai Jack?

In "Jack versus Mad Jack", one of the bounty hunters in the woods that is riding a robotic elephant is the Intergalactic big-game hunter, appropriately named Huntor, who appeared in the sub-series "Dial 'M' for Monkey", that appeared in "Dexter's Laboratory". in samurai jack he appears in Jack versus Mad Jack. he looks like this

I know nothing about any references to the other in either of them. If you want to look for any references to either show or Powerpuff Girls in any show now, check FiM, since it's creator, Lauren Faust, is married to Craig and was another director/producer/storyboard artist or whatever in pretty much everything he has created and then some.
#206 to #12 - anon (08/27/2012) [-]
Craig McCracken was the main art director for Dexter's lab, and there were a few cameos of him in ppg. Also, I think dexter was a main character in ther powerpuff girls anime.

I can't agree with you more, you can practically see when the developers realise that he might just overshadow Vader as a villain.

- Instant nerfing
- Introduce ******** weakness
- Kill him with a blaster

I had put up with much in the name of star wars, but that was the last straw.
I wasn't surprised when they proceeded to ruin Revan too
User avatar #121 to #117 - Yojimbo (08/27/2012) [-]
I hate almost everything about ROTS. Let's take a look!

-Dooku is killed off within 7 minutes of the movie.
-Grievous is a pussy
-The Jedi elite team (Fisto, Kolar, Tiin, Windu) last 2 seconds against the Emperor
-The rest of the Jedi get smoked and don't even put up a fight
-Lousy acting on some accounts
-Whiny Anakin and tiring Padme

Only redeeming quality was Chewbacca
User avatar #124 to #121 - neverborn (08/27/2012) [-]
I washed my hands of the series after that.
shame I had waited till the last release to do so

aah, that scene was the single most awesome thing ever.
the music, the situation, the fight. loved it.

the cartoon will still hold a place of honour in my heart, I'm sad that very little afterwards was worthy of it

NO
Its the same universe
the prof. is a descendant of jack and the world of samurai jack is the post apocalyptic future of the present world the prof. lives in.
User avatar #82 to #45 - sweetdickwilly ONLINE (08/26/2012) [-]
How the **** would The Prof. be a descendant if he came first?
User avatar #354 to #82 - zerkerex (08/30/2012) [-]
He DIDN'T.
Jack is from the past originally, like feudal japan era...maybe.
At the end of his journey, he probably went back and raised a family.
(by the way this is purely speculation, samurai jack never even got a real conclusion, there was supposed to be a movie directed by the original creator but it never happened...YET!)

Being the lonely professor he was he wanted a family since he never had a wife. He thought he could create the perfect girls and thus having the perfect life with it being him, the three girls, and mojo-jojo. But Mojo-jojo pushed him and caused him to add another ingredient which ****** everything up.

so does this mean that the powerpuff girls were defeated by aku, and the professor swore that he would have his revenge by becoming a samurai? or something like that
User avatar #273 to #265 - fedegon (08/27/2012) [-]
No, PPG is the present at the same time of Samurai Jack, but Jack was from the past.
After defeating Aku, he found a way to return to his time, and in this new timeline he created, monsters still walked the earth. So him, with his powers weakened, used the resolve of creating "three perfect little girls" and "accidentally" adding the chemical X to create the three warriors which would substitute him.
