Even if it isn't, please cut this 'My lost faith in this generation' ******** , because YOLO swaggots and assholes are a total minority.
#328 to #275 - anon (08/23/2012) [-]
And even if they were a majority, why would that ruin your faith in your generation? Is it not obvious that most of the time when somebody says yolo or swag they're just kidding? Or do you just want a reason to hate kids that seem "cooler" than you because one time one or two "popular" kids made fun of you?

Exactly.

No, they are. YOLO faggots are just considerably more outspoken than considerate and ordinary human beings such as ourselves, so it just appears that way.
User avatar #283 to #281 - sadaros (08/23/2012) [-]
ok, at least at my last school, they were not a minority, by far

Oh yeah I'm sure some schools have a majority of yolo swaggots but school is a very small partition of humanity.

This comic, although technically correct, is incredibly biased. Edison might've done some awful things, but that does not cancel out the fact that he was an absolute marketing genius. Tesla was ******* incredible, but that didn't stop him from being terribly socially awkward and such.

Everyone can look terrific or terrible in retrospect.
#154 to #150 - propone (08/23/2012) [-]
Yep, he was the absolute "Geek": very smart, innovative, passionate by his work, and, socially awkward (he was single till his last breath).
Edison, on the other end, put his intelligence to sell this technology. What makes him a douche is the fact that he robbed a lot of Tesla ideas, without giving him credit (and, do i need to say it? No money)

Why would that matter? If he invests and opens up a factory to produce such an engine, he can sell it individually for people to install it or sell to companies that make cars.

These projects weren't shutdown. Lets say I make something really cool like a generator that runs off a common resource. I have that information and can print it, post it, offer it to anyone. In fact, by the time any big company caught on, I could have that information in every hand connected to the internet. But rather than let my invention benefit humanity, I want to get paid. The patent office is going to take years to process my idea and never give me credit and a company is going to offer me a significant amount of money to "share" my idea "exclusively" to their company to "utilize". I know what the **** is up, but I figure I should get paid for my brilliance and take the offer. Human greed prevents these products from reaching consumer hands, not omnipotent businesses.
#342 to #187 - gonz (08/23/2012) [-]
"human greed"
you mean I want to not starve? you do realize people put YEARS into making products like these. with each finished final design/product, there were dozens if not hundreds of failed designs. this is their livelihood. that's like saying doctors shouldn't get paid since they should "help mankind" by giving free service. that inventor probably has a PHD and spend 8+ years studying physics, chemistry and such. A persons gotta eat
#612 to #342 - anon (08/23/2012) [-]
I realize far too well. But they were not shut down. They were exploited and went along with it when they had the option of their life's work actually amounting to something. There are other ways to make money. One can't sell their dream and complain they had no other options.

"HURR DURR THE CORPORATIONS ARE HOLDING US BACK!" Yeah, because no corporation has ever been interested in anything new or efficient, right? What did you use to write that comment then, a typewriter?

You can buy quick recharging packs at Radioshack (you could put it in a mouse if you really wanted to). You can buy hydrogen cars from Honda (hydrogen from water goes in, water comes out). None of those technologies were "shutdown". It's just that nobody buys them.

Look at Nickola Tesla, he made a machine that pulls static out of the air and turns it into a clear power source, a clean FREE power source. They labeled him insane and confined him in a room until he died.
#50 to #38 - Sammael (08/23/2012) [-]
Umm, wat?
god I love when people talk about things like that. Wardenclyffe tower was not energy generator, Tesla wanted it to trasmit energy wirelessly not create it out of the thin air (btw wireless energy projection is barely understood Today. Tesla did it then. In a desert. With a pile of junk). Project fell through because no one was interested in founding it, not because it was shut down, because electrical companies make more money on transmition charges then on production.
Nicola Tesla lived on his own, in New Yorker hotel, going out and feeding pidgeons and even hosting dinners till he died. No one locked him anywhere.

It works on only water?
Then guy is more then a genious, he is God.
As far as I know only God can break laws of physics and that would go against law of conservation of energy.
you sure you got that one right? Because any first year physics student can tell you that water simply does not carry or hold energy.
#30 to #22 - anon (08/23/2012) [-]
H2O got 2 atoms of Hydrogen which is highly explosive. With enough electrical power you can separate the hydrogen and use it as a combustible. When Hydrogen burn it only produce water. Sorry for my bad english.
#32 to #30 - Sammael (08/23/2012) [-]
Hydrogen is an energy carrier, not an energy producer:
Means on its own it don't produce energy, you have to put energy into it. Just separating it from oxygen doesn't give you anything except small amounts of combustible gas, which takes more energy to produce then it can give.

User avatar #386 to #14 - dastonarman (08/23/2012) [-]
They are ******* Companies, not giving machines. The literally only point of a company is to make money. I won't say if that is good or not because that's another comment, but you can't complain if a company wants to make money. And how does not releasing amazing inventions make more money?
User avatar #543 to #386 - jinjo (08/23/2012) [-]
Well, in America and other countries where you have to pay for health care, half a dollar for cancer tests would have them making 0 money.

New efficient ways to cure/accomplish things that are cheaper are a threat to major companies who overcharge for their service and make a huge profit. If these new inventions get out, then they don't make the profit. Some companies will actually pay somebody large ammounts of money for the rights/paten to these new inventions so they can keep them off the shelves forever, and make money.

It's probably a conspiracy theory.. but I've read about a man that found a legitimate cure for the common cold but large pharmaceutical company payed him for it and just did nothing with it. The reason being when people get a cold they run out and buy head ache meds, cough syrup etc. And the companies make huge money off of that so these 'solutions' are threats to their profit.
