So... I don't think you guys realize that Mac's ARE pc's. PC means "personal computer" as opposed to things like supercomputers and servers. What you mean is the difference between the architecture of the hardware, which handle the OS's differently. It used to be Mac or x86, which would run different OS's optimally. Idk what architecture is used in modern "pc's" today, but that's the gist of it.

Actually the PC was coined by Microsoft because of being personal rather then the supercomputers of the time, since Steve Jobs split and formed Apple they couldn't use that handle so they just called them Macintosh's (Like the apple)

Small fun fact: The company was named Apple after a board meeting to decide the name of the company couldn't come up with a name so Steve Jobs offered the ultimatum that if they didn't come up with a name by 5 o'clock that day he would name it something stupid like Apple (An apple being the first thing he saw)
