For Pokemon Blue/Red, I chose Bulbasaur, it was easier defeating the first 3 GYM leaders, but that's just me.

Typhlosion was amazing. I used to teach him Thunderpunch from the Goldenrod PokeMart + raise his speed, making him invulnerable to his water weakness mwuahah

Typhlosion is indeed a great pokemon.

I like it in general, and it's pre evolutions.

I take it that it is your favorite pokemon?

Actually, for Pokemon-battling, Typhlosion is in fact my favorite.

However, Cubone gives me feels, and makes me want to train him so much.

If trained right, it can Sp. Def tank out the literal ass.

Mine is level 81 Right now and have over 330 Sp. Def, and I didn't even EV train it in that either. I used it for PvE.

I might get a Latios for Competitive play, I'll have to see, it will be hard without breeding.

If you want to talk about SP Def, get yourself a Regice. When I fought him in ruby, I used my level 100 Blaziken to attack him with Fireblast, and it only did half damage. Latias is pretty cool, but Regice is cold.

I know it was a bad pun, don't kill me

Regiice has the highest Sp. Def of any pokemon, but is considered legendary. Latias has insanely high, yet not maxed sp. def and is for whatever reason, not considered a legendary.

I try to stay away from legendaries, and besides, latias's special attack is really good as well.

oh I didn't know that. I just figured from experience that it was insanely high. I know Regice is considered a legendary, but I thought Latias and Latios were also considered legendary.

I know, it's weird. I'm not sure why they are not considered as such, but meh.

That's assuming the attacker will use special attacks... A good trainer should always keep a decent mix of physical and special attacks and pokemon on hand.

Not in competitice play.

If you split your attack types, you'll lose because most pokemon don't have very balanced sp atk / atk, and if you use both, you would have to EV train atk and sp atk to be effective, taking away from one other stat you could EV train to give you a greater advantage other than move type.

The only pokemon I would think that could even romotely pull that off is blaziken. But you sacrifice the speed EV training, therefore will attack second, more likely than not.

I'm not saying balanced special and physical attackers, I'm saying pokemon in general. I wouldn't train a Chandelure for physical attacks, that's just retarded. Then again, this all being said, I don't believe in EV training, but that's because I like to put role play that I'm like a normal trainer.

That's what I do.

I have a team that I use for PvE, and pretending I'm a trainer, and a team that I use to play competitively.

in PvE, multiple types of attacks is indeed a good idea.

Even if I did play competitively I'd use the same team as in game. That's just how I am. I don't believe in EV training really.
