not if you're looking for education. most of the teacher sucks balls and are lazier than cats. if you have to move... good luck, 4000 students can't go to school this year in Oslo, no apartments or anywhere to live without paying ALOT of money, probably like 1 500-2000 dollars per month for a small apartment.

Nope... No way. You would not want to be in Norway. Worlds most expensive country and I live in Denmark which probably is number 2.

1 beer costs about 30 (danish kroner) which is like 6 dollars. And that's in the supermarkets my friend. Not even cold. Try thinking about a case of beer or liquer. You'll feel broke by the thought.

Dude, you know nothing. We earn 20 times more then you guys, yet the prices are only twice as high. It's all about GNP (Gross National Product). But hell, stay in Denmark. We can make twice as much as you, and buy it for the same low prices they have in Sweden or Denmark. We rock, you suck :) But enjoy your expensive stay in Denmark ;)

I'm not saying it's too expensive for norwegians to live in Norway, that wouldnt make any sense. I'm just saying if you come from another country that would probably be one of the most expensive to have a vacation/live in. It's the same with Denmark, we also make more than other countries, it's just that our taxes is the highest, together with Sweden I think it is.

Your intellect is weak.

What you give up for enormous taxation on everything is the ability to do everything.

If you would give up free health care, free schools and generally free money so that you can waste it on beer you need to rethink your priorities.

But then again, you're a funnyjunk regular so you might not be smart enough to understand what it means to think ahead.

How is his intellect weak? If he's a healthy person who rarely takes advantage of the free health care, and is already done school, he's simply losing money through taxation.

Enormous taxation takes away the incentive to be successful as an individual, since everything is handed to you by the government.

Simply thinking that the fact that you exist gives you the right to luxury a naive way of thinking.

Bring forth the red thumbs!

I'm speaking as a Scandinavian that currently has great health, goes to college/uni for free, is living with his parents and sister.

I haven't gone to the doctor in more than 4 years (had the flu and needed some antibiotics prescribed), other from that I have great health. Only one of my parents work and he doesn't have a college degree. Despite the "huge" taxation still we have money to go on vacation almost every summer, buy unneeded items (Videogames, and other electronic devices), etc.

Even people with good health can suffer accidents. If you don't have insurance, do you think any insurance company is going to accept that you start paying AFTER you've suffered any kind of accident?.

People around here still want to be successful, they still have ambition, for example: Stefan Persson, worth (according to forbes) around 26 Billion USD occupying the 8th position in the Forbes list.

You want to know what my family is doing for my country? They are paying taxes so everyone has the same opportunities, and still, we feel as free as we could be.

First of all, I wonder whether your family works in a public sector, or private sector job.

Interesting how you bring up Stefan Persson as a person with ambition, considering he inherited his company after his father. The company H & M was formed before the high tax, before 1950.

As for people who suffer accidents, you don't need free health care for life threatening situations, or many other injuries in a country such as USA. Hospitals will still admit you. They may turn you down if it's non-life threatening and you don't have insurance, but its not common.

H&M started making serious money after the 70's, after the high tax.

My parent (singular) works in the public sector (which pays less than the private), as for life threatening situations you may still be admitted into any hospital but you still will have to pay a lot of money afterwards, that means for any average family to be in debt.

Other Companies have surged making and extraordinary amount of money in the last few years, like Mojang and Spotify.

we have student loans in Norway! after 5 years at a university you have around 250 000 Norwegian krone ( 42 000 USD) in student loans.

each year you get around 90 000 kroner in loans with the goverment. after you pass your exams 40% of this will be changed to scholarship.

Well, I'm not an expert, but it seems to have more to do with the competition of press being inherently limiting largely due to the entertainment style newsgroups we have. That said, the gov't isn't exactly known for following it's own rules, I'm sure there are instances of the press being silenced.

Still you see fox news and you'd think if they were any more free they'd be pissing out their office window's onto passing pedestrians.
