it never said it stopped the bullet. It just said it saved his life. Its possible it just slowed it down enough not to hit anything fatal.

Syria isnt exactly a place for accurate media to escape. This picture could very well be something a lazy editor took off google images because they couldnt get an actual picture of the phone in question.

The impact probably came from the back since he was recording a video. We don't know from the pictures if it penetrated the front so can't be too sure

perhaps, but as you see, the hole on the backside is bigger than the front, so if the bullet went all through, wouldn't the hole be just as big both front and back?

plausible, but why shoot it up? selling an old Nokia would be better, there is apparently collectors.
