**** MACS.
Damn them all to hell.
**** them and their Beats by Dr. Dre wearing douchebag users.

The only person who defends a mac is either a spoiled little brat or a tragically misinformed consumer.

Yes- macs are good computers.
They are not worth as much ******* money as Apple asks for them. If you try and say that you bought it for any other reason than the icon on the back that gets you into hipster cliques, then again- spoiled brat/misinformed consumer.
Say there's this hot hipster chick you're dying to bone. If you buy a mac to get her in the sack with intent to bring it back (Edgar Allen Poe, bitches), then I can understand that. In any other context, purchasing a mac is terrible management of finances.

The Macbook rage and the Beats rage are two of the most interesting sociological/psychological phenomena of the time. People driven to have overpriced things just for the sake of being accepted by peers.

I respect your opinion, good sir. Beats do in fact have good audio quality, but they are also not worth the price. If my parents gave me Beats, I would use them (free, ***** ), but it would not be wise to buy them yourself. The only Beats product I could maybe understand buying would be the cheaper earphones, but I'd probably still go cheaper on those, haha. No red thumbs.

I know two spoiled brats with Macs. One is the bane of my existence, the other is kind of alright sometimes, while being an annoying cunt.
Fag #1:
He's a skinny faggot with an extremely feminine voice, and it's always "his way or the highway" sort of thing.
We worked together on the school's production of Grease. I was lighting designer/technician/operator, he was sound.
I remember once during rehearsals, he wasn't paying attention to anything because he was looking up an apple conference that was going to be streamed online. "But I CAN'T MISS IT!" he cried while people (including me) were essentially telling him to shut off his computer (Oh yeah, he has a PC and a Mac, but got his PC modded to be as much like a Mac as it possibly can) and just do his job.
He was nearly ******* crying and everything because he thought he was going to miss it. Then it turned out he forgot about the American/UK time difference and he wasn't going to miss it at all (Too late though, rehearsals are finished)
The main thing that pisses me off even more about this is because during another rehearsal, I wanted to go out and get a drink (As I had 5 minutes until my next cue at all) and he started bitching "Hm, no! You can't just leave your post! That's so unprofessional!"
Two other points that pissed me off about him:
> I sing along to the songs of the play; I have to stop, I sound horrible, I'm not allowed to sing... He does it, perfectly fine, he "can actually sing" according to himself.

> ".... But... Michael Jackson is dead...?"
> "OH! Oh no, sorry I got mixed up, I meant Justin Bieber! OMG CAN'T WAIT!"
(This I don't care too much about, I'm not being all "hurr durr bieber is gay"... It's just he mixed him up with MJ, and acted like such a fag about it.
User avatar #123 to #122 - tvfreakuk (08/15/2012) [-]
Fag # 2
Now, this guy is generally okay when he wants to be... But when he goes into "douche mode", he goes super douche...
1) He has Beats, and sometimes goes on about how they are superior to my headphones, when I honestly just don't care.
2) Always gets the latest iPhone the moment it comes out (From his parents of course)
3) Uses instagram for ALL of his photos. He can't just take a normal ******* picture since that was made (Even though he did have a ******* of his "editing" photos before that)
4) When on FB (and... even sometimes in real life) "lololol haterz gonna hatez guise huahuahua!"
5) Plays Nicki Minaj songs any chance he gets. I remember he hooked up his iPod to the theatre's sound system and "Stupid Hoe" was blaring for ages.
6) I never say ANYTHING about the stuff he constantly shoves down my throat about what he likes, and how I should like it
(There was one time when Lady Gaga was on some concert, and he was watching it on TV, and my newsfeed was literally filled:
"OMG SHE'S COMING ON STAGE! SHE'S BOOOOTIFUL! OMG!" and other **** within a one second update between.)
But then, the one time I talked to a girl on FB about a show we both like (granted, we didn't go to chat, but it wasn't as bad as his **** ) and suddenly he comments "lol, umm guys, no one gives a **** about your gay ass show lolz"
AND one time, he asked me what I was listening to once, and I said "Sick Puppies".
Now constantly:
"Hurr durr lol what you listening to?! That stupid Ill Puppies again Hauhauhau!"
7) Months before his birthday (Literally about 3 months) he was constantly going on facebook about how he wanted a Mac for his birthday, and how his dad "better give it" to him.

A main difference between these two idiots is that #1 is a skinny **** , and #2 is fat as **** ; but they are both annoying arragont cunts.

I'm guessing you bought them to see what all the fuss was about. At least you admit they're ******* you on the price. I was wondering if I could get your honest opinion on something, diqface. My friend has a mac but I believe it is for good reason. He constantly suffers from episodes of worry and stress, most of it stems from worrying about getting malware on his computer. He used to get loads of them on his PC, so a few years ago he swapped to a Mac Pro.

He no longer gets any kind of malware on his computer at all. Unfortunatly he still suffers from the same worry. It gets really hard to watch him get so upset over it and I do my best to reassure him but there's so little I can do, it's frustrating.

And there are so many games I want to play with him. Guild wars 2 is coming out soon but it just doesn't feel worth it without my best friend playing with me. Sure, he could install something like Wine or dual boot but these methods only add to his worry about the possibility of them infecting his computer.

Sorry, I don't mean to seem like I'm attacking you. I just wanted your opinion really. I'd probably have the same opinion as you, if it weren't for my friend.
#139 to #128 - diqface (08/15/2012) [-]
Haha, jk.

I have had my PC for a year and a half with no antivirus and have had no viruses. I get on Facebook and FJ. I play games (also excited for GW2), and I get on Youtube and do schoolwork and check my email. As long as you don't dick around on the internet on a PC, you'll be fine. I recommend malwarebytes (free) and spybot:search and destroy to people that need some protection. NOD32 is the best protection, but it is not free (very expensive, actually). It is possible to torrent it, but I try to avoid that, as well. You can fix a lot of malware attacks yourself, from experience and from Google. I have a Lenovo B560 running windows 7, and I have had no problems. That's the difference there between a PC and a Mac. You have to take care of a PC. It's like a car; you have to have some know-how and you have to maintain it to make it last. Macs don't require such care. Hope this helped some.
#154 to #139 - evilscotsman (08/15/2012) [-]
I'm a PC user myself and I'm able to take care of it, I don't get any malware either.

With my friend it's not so simple as installing antivirus, I don't think it's even the actual having a virus that's the problem. He knows how to work a computer, he knows what he's doing. However it's the idea that he might get a virus that worries him. From what I understand is that when he starts thinking about viruses his mind goes wild with what might happen. Things like his files being wiped or personal details being stolen.

Having the mac does help him. Where these scenarios might be possible on a PC, they are, I believe, next to impossible on a mac. But he still finds himself stressing over things that truly are impossible.

Again, it's not the actual getting a virus that worries him, but the possibility of getting one. You can put all the antivirus you like on a PC but you still can't be completely sure if your computer is impenetrable. By being on a mac you genuinely are safer from viruses since the OS is so locked down.

I wish there was something I could do to help him.
#155 to #154 - diqface (08/15/2012) [-]
I suppose the only solution would be to have a PC and a Mac, ha. You don't want to dual-boot on a Mac.

"its overly expensive" of course it is. you could buy a pc laptop with 500 gigs of memory and 8 gigs of RAM for the same price that you could buy a 250 gig memory 4 gig Ram macbook. its just ridicouls that you spend about twice as much for it to have an apple on the back. not even a full apple someone already started eating that **** too

Honestly, when buying the Mac you have to think about your preferences. Are you a gamer? Then don't buy it. Are you into art and music? Then go ahead, its a good fit.

Also, don't nail Mac for not having enough games. The computer doesn't make the game, the developer does. It is their decision to make it for PC, probably because coding for PC is all they want to know how to do. All in all, the gaming industry should be heading towards cross platform games, it only makes sense. Everyone can enjoy their product, everyone pays.
User avatar #25 to #21 - Hanx ONLINE (08/14/2012) [-]
It's more like "Do you have a couple grand to spare?"

Also, it has nothing to do with coding, its the fact that more people use Windows computers, so it's a larger market. That's also why there are a lot more Windows viruses than Mac ones, programmers and hackers/crackers alike want to reach as many people as possible.
User avatar #26 to #25 - notsain (08/14/2012) [-]
You are also paying for a bit of reassurance. I've had my share of Mac's and PC's and while doing the same one both (basically) I've had my PC crash, corrupt, and fail. While my Mac has only had a minor virus that tried to access my calendar (nothing big at all). You can hate on the computer all you want, but as it stands the computer does just fine.

Also, the Mac OS has always been good. Remember, I have one of each computer so I fit into the category for voting on this. Though the PC OS has been sketchy at times I still enjoy it. Microsoft releases their OS as fast as they can get it up and running (not trying to bash Microsoft, it is seriously just how they work) and release it to the public. The testers of the OS find the big bugs that are obvious, but the public is left with the ridiculous chore of finding the rest as they go about their computing and what-not.

Both computers have their good and bad, but Mac has never failed me while my PC turns blue on occasion.
#30 to #26 - jinkazama (08/14/2012) [-]
Either you are ************ or ******* pants on head retarded.

If you get a blue screen you shouldn't be allowed use computers.
You are either retarded or trying to run programs you shouldn't on a **** tier PC.
I have yet to see blue screen once, or even have a computer crash on me.

As for virus', it's the same principal. You only get virus' from sketchy places and fake ******** . You don't even need antivirus to not get them. Also free antivirus' will warn you of near anything.

In conclusion, you are either retarded or lying out of your ass
User avatar #34 to #30 - notsain (08/14/2012) [-]
Well, I was stretching the truth with the blue screen part. It was more of a reference between the quality gap between the two OS. Anyways, I've been completely level headed and complemented both OS for what they are, and simply pointed out the good in the Mac while others only see the few downsides (not even bad qualities about it, just small downsides) to it, while people like you chime in with the normal "You ******* retarded, Mac's suck" kind of comment. Don't hate something just because its the competitor of your product, that's what little ass hats do to get their ego boost while they live their sad little lives. Now you don't want that, do you? Alright.
#35 to #34 - jinkazama (08/14/2012) [-]
I'm going to explain this to you as best i can.

Macs may COME WITH better software for music/video editing, but windows have better products for it, like sony vegas. They don't come with the OS, but the amount of extra money you pay for a mac, with **** all compatibility for most programs simply isn't worth it.

Please justify the huge price difference to me between a Windows and a Mac PC of the same specs.
User avatar #48 to #35 - notsain (08/14/2012) [-]
Most editing tools are cross platform, and some are strictly for windows. So I can see you point of "Why not just get a PC?" for that. Now I will explain the, indeed, huge price jump. Windows have a wonderful way of being customized (which macs in most cases do not), strictly gaming, business, music, etc. What ever you want it for, you can get it JUST for that. Well, there is the thing. You can get it just for that one ability. (Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you can't do more than one thing on a PC...but when have you honestly said while buying a Windows that "Ill play games on this, do business, and everything in-between!" Mostly people,or at least the people I know buy a PC for a specific reason, gaming, art, music )Yet, they go after specs for that one kind of computer. A Mac is a multi purpose OS that provides an above average experience with all things, regardless of what you want to buy it will most likely do anything els with a fast response and sufficient processing . The Mac does play games well, the games it is provided with. You are given a nice amount of Ram and memory for the ability to do what ever you want with it, no real limitations on the matter.

All I'm saying is that the PC can be too specific while the Mac can handle a wide range of things, even if you just bought it to draw on or listen to music. If I wanted to go real with PC gaming I would hands down sell my Mac and upgrade my PC as much as I can, but until someone Is ready to take on one thing with a computer, the Mac provides a nice playing feild to do what ever need. Thats my opinion anyways.
User avatar #79 to #48 - enkmaster ONLINE (08/14/2012) [-]
No, Mac gives you an average experience , or for many things, less than average. I prefer to think of different OS's like this.
Windows: Reliable, extremely versatile platform from which damn near anything can be done well.

Mac: Easy to learn, capable in many fields. a jack-of-all-trades computer. Better for certain areas, and for just browsing the web and dicking around. Good for students.

Linux: Its a computer in every sense of the word. Often difficult to use for certain programs. The best there is for specialized tasks, and beats everything for many categories. Master Linux and everything else will pale in comparison. Except gaming.
User avatar #45 to #34 - Hanx ONLINE (08/14/2012) [-]
I don't see how the exorbitant pricetag is "a small downside", not to mention lack of compatibility and flexibility.
User avatar #52 to #45 - notsain (08/14/2012) [-]
A Mac provides an above level playing field that you wont get with a PC ( In my opinion), yet the PC can be adapted far beyond what the Mac can. Simply put, the Mac gives you the best range while the PC gives you the best target.
User avatar #39 to #26 - Hanx ONLINE (08/14/2012) [-]
In my experience it has been the other way around! I've made more Mac repairs and replacements than PC ones. Macs are a bitch to open up and fix, PC's on the other hand are a lot easier.
The 'Mac OS' is simply a modified Linux operating system that is available as open-source software. If you want the 'Mac' experience, you could get yourself Ubuntu and save quite a bit of money.
Also, PC's can be custom built. I put my computer together myself, and tailored the parts so that they all cooperate seamlessly. This is the problem with 'production-line" PC's. They are general-purpose to try to suit as many people as possible, but with that kind of configuration, the PC is more likely to fail and bluescreen.
It's not exactly hate I feel for Mac, I just don't see the point when a custom PC is clearly at the advantage. Here's my positives and negatives regarding the Mac and custom Windows PC:

- Simple, elegant design
- No crazy mess of wires coming out the back
- Expensive
- No flexibility regarding hardware configuration
- Lack of software, games included
Custom PC
- Tailored to suit your needs
- Affordable (My computer rivals Alienware desktops, costed me just under 600 Euro)
- Easily upgraded/modified
- Accepts a wider range of peripheral devices (This is changing though, nowadays they are becoming more compatible across several platforms)
- Most used OS, therefore more software is developed for it
- More complicated, some computer know-how required to set up
- Wires. Everywhere.

I might have missed some things here and there, but this is what I have learned from my experiences with the two types of computer.
User avatar #54 to #39 - notsain (08/14/2012) [-]
Im not saying either is better, friend. I wish I could sum this up in a certain way...

Lets just do this.
PC levels: ----------------------------

MAC level:--------------

Do you see what I'm trying to say? The PC gives you an advantage in one area that you choose while a Mac can give you a level area that all perform well.
Im seriously not bashing PC, so people who will read this civil flame war will instantly thumb me down because I'm a Macfag, I know that. I just think It's time we stop saying one is better than the other.
User avatar #59 to #54 - Hanx ONLINE (08/14/2012) [-]

I've got to say it's a lot more comfortable gaming on the Xbox than on the PC, but if I'm a little tight on cash, as I usually am, then I go for the PC version.

yeah, it can be the same here, depending on what games you buy, however i like the convenience of buying the game there and then, and also not having to buy ms points, which are a rip off, saying that anyway, i broke my xbox near Christmas and couldn't be bothered to fix it, so i went true PC. also i hate disks because they break easy with xbox, i got through 3 copies of mw2 somehow...

It's the stupidest **** in the world. Everyone gets so bothered about what other people want to spend their money on and their computing preferences. Why people care that I'm using a Mac, tablet or a pc I dont know, honestly if you don't like macs, don't buy them, why do you care that someone else decided to? It's retarded
