do you ever even use yours? i've had 3 apple cords wear out over the past 5 years after fairly light use. i have several plain USB cords that are about 7 years old that still work just fine.

why the hell does apple not just use USB like everybody else? why do they have to have such a retarded docking plug and port?

It happened to me... I took good care of it, now I use some chinese copy **** of that wire, it has it's own problems but atleast the damn thing works... apple charges a lot for it's product they should make sure their products are fool proof

If it happens to most people, it's the product.

It's not like people throw them in a grinder. When I used to own an iPod Shuffle, this kept happening to me. I didn't treat it rough.

But now I don't use Apple products and this never happens. So if I treat non-apple products the same as I did with apple but it only happens to apple, it's the apple product.

Fact is, you're not supposed to treat it like Indiana Jones when he picks up an important artefact. It's meant to last even if you treat it normally, since it doesn't, it's the product.

Here's the ******* thing. I don't knot mine up like an autistic child.

Implying everyone does.

I never did.

But that's also the thing. If it can't last just because you knotted it up, it's a dodgy product. I know people who to knot their non-apple products up and they don't tear.

So my point still stands, treat the two products of the same purpose the same, but one can't last ... obviously one is inferior.

But I mean I don't like toss mine out of the way after I'm done. It can't be that hard to just leave it somewhere without damaging it .

Most don't toss it around. It is a bad product because it gets destroyed only by putting it in and out. This is one of the most stupid things with Apple, as they don't fix it, because it doesn't look as good.

but this happens with a lot of products, my last phone was a blackberry and that charger did the same thing as above and my mums samsung charger has also done the same thing.

the reason it happens is because people pull on the wire whilst they use their phone so the wire/wire casing gets weaker and weaker, it happens on apple products slightly quicker due to the small length of the cable.
