On television subtitles here in the UK we use (!) to denote sarcasm.

I worked at a newspaper for a few years, and we got a package once from a company called "SarcMark" or something like that. They were trying to peddle out their new punctuation mark that would show sarcasm in written language. Only now I can't see how they'd have made money out of it.

There was this website for a while trying to add a punctuation to digital communication called "The Sarc Marc" basically you'd just put it at the beginning and end of everything sarcastic. It was a pretty cool thing like a year ago. Except it would not work on Facebook, and they wouldn't approve it.. and 99% of my sarcastic comments are contained in Facebook. So it didn't catch on.
