The hunger games film was pathetic compared to the book, missed out so many vital bits :(

Honestly, has any movie lived up to the reputation of its book? No matter how good a movie is, people are always going to say 'the book was better.' Though a lot of that has to do with a book containing 4 hours of plot, and movie makers needing to fit it into a 2 hour movie.

but how much can you fit into a movie from a book? if they actually were true to the book, the movie would be 4 hours long. i think they did good with what they had, but maybe it's because i read the book beforehand.

It didn't miss any vital points. It got the vital points exactly as in the book. It just lacked SO MUCH substance the book had.

eah, but at the last bit there was an argument between peeta and katniss, about the love thing :(

I've tried to maintain a neutral and critical stance on The Hunger Games. It was good, but when it comes down to it the books and movies are just that. Good. They are not the greatest thing ever by a long shot.
In my own personal opinion, against books like Sabriel, or classics like Lord of the Flies, there is no comparison.

I feel like everything was there plot-wise, but what made the book so good was all of the character development. The book was told from Katniss' First Person POV, and she's such a fantastic narrator and deep character that the lack of depth in Katniss' character is what made the movie so inferior to the book

the main bit was the ensing, the fact that she wasnt on love with him and he was with her!

If there has ever been a book that should be a video game, it's the hunger games. Unfortunately basically all games based on movies/books are rushed and usually turn out just average so they can suck the profits off of the movies publicity.

One of the major diffrences for me me was in the movie when katniss gave peta the medicine it was just a cream that she rubbed on his wound, but in the book she ran into the cave, pulled out a hypodermic needle and shoved it into his ******* leg.

I saw it, and somebody who hadn't read the book would have no idea what was going on. Everything' s just explained so poorly.

That's because the book is really hard to believe in the first place. I thought the movie explained it about as well as the book did.
The premise itself just doesn't make sense.

I never read the books, but I saw the movie, and I thought the movie was mediocre, to be honest. A lot of the editing and cinematographic **** was really lacking, and there was a lot of poor directing decisions all over it. But when I said this to my friend, a devout Hunger Games fangirl, she lost her ****, saying "Oh, it all worked perfectly if you read the books."
********, I shouldn't be required to read something to understand a movie. Just make the movie actually include everything necessary to understand it.

You're being awfully unspecific with your criticisms. The average critic response was 85%, paired with an 85% score from the public. Also she's wrong, you don't need to read the books to understand the film at all. The film was extremely easy to follow.

I agree, they missed Peeta needing his leg amputated, Katniss destroying her eardrum with the explosion, the muttations being tributes, among many other important little bits. It bugged me but it was still a decent movie. Besides, I guess I understand that they can only put so much into a movie but still, that stuff was important to the plot.

Also, I was really looking forward to seeing Haymitch falling off the stage at the reaping, but noooooo, they cut that too.

At first, yes. That bugged me as well. Hopefully the next movie will be better (Though we'll have to wait until 2013 to find out -.-) since they're going to have a new director and from what I hear they're going to amp up the rating so it'll be a bit more graphic, which makes sense because Johanna will be topless for half the movie...

I kind of switched sides throughout the books every now-and-then but midway through the third book I was firmly with Peeta just because I felt that Gale had really lost who he was through the blood lust for the capitol. True, Peeta also lost who he was but his was forced, Gale willingly gave who he was for revenge.

The best part they cut is her hallucinations when she's stung by the tracker jackers. In the book it's like a chapter long ********. In the movie it was like she pretended to stumble for a little ways while they ************ with the sound and added echo effects on the blue-haired ****** voice.

I still enjoyed the movie. I think both have merit, even if the movie misses out on the real violence of the books.
