Just watched Warrior last night, you're right, he's great, he was my favourite character. Ending could've been done a bit better, but still very good.

Its a shame I saw him in the trailers for This Means War, looks like a crap film.

Warrior made me cry when Tom Hardy was comforting his dad.
User avatar #36 to #34 - jokersaysamuseme (08/05/2012) [-]
Yeah, that scene was really touching. I can somewhat relate to Tommy.

SPOILERS

I find it funny that Brendan was fighting for a house. There's nothing wrong with that, but I feel they should have made his means of fighting in the tournament something more serious. Like that heart condition his daughter used to have. If they has stuck with that would've been better.

Don't know why I wanted Tommy to win, just did. Maybe it's because he was a cooler character. It should have been harder for Brendan to take Tommy down.

He was fighting for his house because, if my memory serves, he's in mountains of debt. I think it was because of his daughters condition.

I didn't cry at that bit but I wanted Tommy to win so bad, and was heartbroken when he lost. It was probably the determination that got me, having his arm dislocated but carried on.
User avatar #44 to #38 - jokersaysamuseme (08/05/2012) [-]
If I remember correctly, she USED to have a heart condition. And if Im wrong and she still did, they would have mentioned her more than once or at least give him some screen time with his daughter.

As for the house, Brendan himself was making it as if it was the end of the world having to more and rent.

I think you are half-right
She USED to have a heart condition, but he was still in debt after the hospital bills and stuff

Far and away my favorite actor.
<------is that any good? I've not seen Bronson yet.
#41 to #40 - Kyuss (08/05/2012) [-]
Bronson is a fantastic movie - I might sound biased, since I'm danish, but the director Nicklas Winding Refn is incredible, so that's another reasonto watch it, besides Tommy.
#50 to #41 - bollocksonabus (08/05/2012) [-]
Well I'll take a look then. I didn't know Hardy was as famous as he is. I know he's in some huge films, like Batman, Black Hawk Down and Inception, among with some great British ones, but no one ever seemed to talk about him as much as DiCaprio, Butler, Firth or Oldman, all of which he has worked with. I always thought of him as somewhat of an underdog, because he's never been in the limelight as much as the rest. Suddenly everyone on funnyjunk has been talking about him recently. Whether it's because of TDKR or just coincidence, I'm glad he's finally getting attention.
User avatar #65 to #50 - Kyuss (08/05/2012) [-]
Well, I don't know - I've just loved him since Bronson - and then came Inception, Warrior, Tinker tailor and now Batman.. I just think that people are starting to see his incredible talent.

It wasn't steroids. He just trained all the time, and being a big time Hollywood actor, had the best personal trainers. He said in an interview that he just ate a lot more than he should and as a result got a bit fat. He's always up and down, like for warriors he had to gain a lot of muscle, then lose it for This Means War, then gain it again for Batman

I'm pretty new to fj but I want everybody to understand that commentator #10 is full of **** . To put on more mass you're either putting on either muscle or fat. Tom Hardy put on muscle. Hardy might not be the strongest, but it is more than possible for a determined person (especially with his stature) to put on 40 to 50 pounds in half of a year. Also, this isn't a 7 hour a day regiment to do it. It takes about 15 hours a week (some less, some more depending on your body) The man had proper training and dieting which is why he could control it. The technique I know of is called pyramid weight training and it gets you big. He does not look like he juiced (I've seen stills and the film) Changing your weight and size drastically in a short period of time does not require steroids or drugs simply determination and consistency.
#16 to #14 - anon (08/05/2012) [-]
That double chin and puffy cheeks say that half of that 40 to 50 pounds is fat.
#17 to #14 - anon (08/05/2012) [-]
He openly admitted to working out while gaining fat and muscle.
#25 to #14 - anon (08/05/2012) [-]
I am pretty damn sure this guy has been on the juice, because there is NO ******* WAY he would have gained this amount of muscles in five ******* moths without it.
I have been woriking out for the past ten years, and i know what it takes.

Some steroids has been used here, probably subscribed by at private doctor of some sort, so it is perfectly legal.

Gaining muscles is not easy, and in this occupation, the demands are high, a lot of money involved so of course steroids will be used. No shame in that, a man got to do what a man got to do.
User avatar #18 to #14 - betterguygreg (08/05/2012) [-]
Don't argue with these idiots, someone stronger than them is perceived as a threat, therefore they hate them. 'They must've gotten muscle from doing something other than being dedicated to 24/7 straight internet! How ghastly!'
#28 to #18 - anon (08/05/2012) [-]
Dude, using steroid doesn't mean that you can lay on your ass all day doing nothing and still gain muscles. You have to work hard to gain muscles, steroids just boost the effect of hard training.

so here we have your neck

aaaaand it's gone
User avatar #1 - dalemc (08/04/2012) [-]
Did he not get big for the movie Bronson? He was pretty good in that.
#4 to #1 - mariogomez (08/04/2012) [-]
I think he got big for Bronson, then Warrior, and then Bane. Now he going to do a Christian Bale and lose like 150 pounds.
#2 to #1 - anon (08/04/2012) [-]
in Warriors, too. This picture is just wrong.
User avatar #3 to #2 - dalemc (08/04/2012) [-]
Yeah, first thing i seen in him was Rock & Rolla, he was pretty good in that aswell.
#29 - ForShizzleMyNizzle (08/05/2012) [-]
Easily my favorite actor.
#10 - anon (08/05/2012) [-]
Fyi for everyone. Steroids help in the production of muscle, when he put on weight to perform as Bane, it wasn't all muscle, if you've seen the film and saw him without his shirt, he's not cut, he's not built, he's just big. Chances are this is from eating a ton of calories and while working out as well to put on size. Not necessarily muscle. If he did it clean / lean, he would be, as stewie calls it, vascular. which he is not. Most actors gain weight by using bodybuilding routines of low weight and high reps to volumize their muscles to make them LOOK big without any power. This can be done over a few months. This says Feb and July. So let's say roughly 6 months. If this was his only job at the time, probably was, then all he was doing was hitting the gym and eating just to get as big as he could. Probably 20-30 lbs difference but maybe only 2-5 lbs of muscle mass.
#46 to #10 - aliw (08/05/2012) [-]
'bodybuilding routines of low weight and high reps'.

Do you know where to find such routines? Could you elaborate?

Thx!

That doesn't look like steroids. It's just looks like he gained som fat. Look at his arm, roughly the same size. If it was steroids he would have bigger arms. Or he's just lazy at the gym....

I don't know if he does steroids, but I know he trained around 12 hours a day, he even
started losing muscle mass because he couldn't keep it up. I know this because I
watched the commentary on Bronson :)
User avatar #47 - lazypaul (08/05/2012) [-]
He doesnt look like hes on steroids, hes just got fat.
#51 - exyted (08/05/2012) [-]
That's not steroids, looks more like "krea bolic". it fills your body with water making you look more fat but you can lift heavier weights.

once you stop taking "krea bolic" you loose like 10-15kg.

not sure if pic is related
User avatar #53 to #51 - lazypaul (08/05/2012) [-]

How would filling your body with water make you stronger? Filling it with atp would.
User avatar #58 to #57 - exyted (08/05/2012) [-]
oh, i dont know the details, but it don't just fill your body with water. i don't know if its even what makes it effective. it could be a side effect for all i know.

as mentioned before, i'm not an expert on the subject.
User avatar #62 to #58 - hockerz (08/05/2012) [-]
From what I know, and what my Bio teacher told me, creatine acts of sort of an ATP store, so you can recovr more quickly and therefore lift more, thing is it does add at least a couple kilos of water weight as well/
#54 to #51 - anon (08/05/2012) [-]
Creatine. Krea bolic is way too specific.
User avatar #55 to #54 - exyted (08/05/2012) [-]
I just remember a friend of mine using it. im not really an expert on the subject. but yeah
