It's in support of free speech, not anti-gay. For Christs sake I can't believe someone on a television show did such piss poor research that he couldn't figure that out, it's like fox news or something. Damn people, research something before you rage about it.

See, now that's the misconception. We DON'T hate gays. We could care less about them. We try and pretend they don't exist. But when we're constantly reminded of them and how they're causing an uproar in this nation so they may be married in a church for a religion that opposes what they do, you get sick of it.
User avatar #113 - Spavaloo (08/05/2012) [-]
I support gay rights (and am myself bisexual) and I eat at Chick-fil-a.

Why? Because the sandwiches are tasty.

The gay, bisexual, etc. people who are boycotting Chick-fil-a are being just as stupid as the people who stopped eating Oreos because of Kraft's support of the gay community.

#143 to #113 - anonymous (08/05/2012) [-]
Your stupidity is increcible. Why would you give your money to a company that takes YOUR money and gives it to organizations that take away your rights?
You are directly supporting organizations that are taking away your own rights...
I'm straight and I am amazed by your ignorance.
User avatar #157 to #143 - Spavaloo (08/05/2012) [-]
I'm also giving money to a larger organization that supports my rights.

I love oreos.
User avatar #147 to #143 - jrondeau **User deleted account** (08/05/2012) [-]
The organizations they support are too crazy for anyone to support (such as groups that want to criminalize homosexuality). The company is basically just throwing away their money. No group that wants to put you in jail for being gay will ever be taken seriously.

My facebook feed when Oreos:
"Omg i think it's so annoying how people are boycotting Oreos! It's just a cookie and they're just giving people their opinion!"

My facebook feed when Chik-fil-A:
"How can someone just speak out against gays like that! I'm never eating at Chik-fil-A again!"

This is at least 1/8 of my feed people. Let's try not to make this a fad on FJ too.

To all the people bitching about this on FJ:
People have opinions that you don't agree with. Deal with it or do something useful in protest, because bitching about it on here will never help anything and it's just the lazy man's way of showing support.

If you really dislike what Chick-fil-A is doing, create/join an organization that supports your cause and donate, because no one ******* wants to hear you bitch about politics. While you bitch pointlessly, Chik-fil-A is just getting more money to throw at anti-gay groups.

tl;dr version: Quit your bitching and do something useful about gay rights if you're passionate about this issue.

As a consumer, you are giving your money to organizations when you buy something. This money then gets used by the organization for whatever they want, but if they are deciding to do things with that money you don't agree with (like donating it to anti-gay groups), then the power you have as a consumer is to not give that organization money in the first place.
Ex: I try to buy free trade chocolate, and I try to avoid buying blood diamonds.

In short, a company's opinions about issues don't matter much, but their actions about those issues do matter.
User avatar #141 to #138 - pooflinger (08/05/2012) [-]
That was a surprisingly intelligent reply for an anon.

Anyway, you're right. However, if we were consistent in such action, odds are we would end up buying nothing, because somehow, some way that money will go someplace bad.

I'm all for fighting blood diamonds and what not, but setting it as political precedent to do a background check on your french fries seems silly.

It's okay for KFC to continue abusing and torturing their animals before killing them and throwing live chicks into a grinder to make nuggets
but it's the absolute scum-of-the-earth thing to do for a business owner to state their beliefs.

It's not like Chik-Fil-A doesn't not serve gays or anything.
They just don't support those of the same sex getting married.
But the founders of the restaurant chain are just speaking their beliefs; they're a very Christian family.
I also don't understand why everybody is so uptight about it.

All of those people kissing those of the same sex in front of the store are being the ******** ones, in my humble opinion.

Why would KFC torture chickens? That's just PETA propaganda.
User avatar #99 to #94 - dengekisushi (08/05/2012) [-]
ASPCA has an organization against them about it.
There have been undercover videos that show it happening, and they claim it to be KFC.
But what do I know.
I'm not much of a fan of their chicken anyways anymore.

Not torture, just kill without remorse or care of the pain caused. Torture would be dumb.

KFC dosn't torture their animals. there is NOTHING to gain from it. to waste time and resources on torture? that's such a stupid claim. and they want to feed their chickens. cause skinny chickens don't have as much meat on em

You, good sir, need to learn some knowledge...
User avatar #105 to #100 - ilcecchino ONLINE (08/05/2012) [-]
the definition of torture is forced pain or discomfort with no desire to kill or release for a long period of time. what i think you mean to say is they kill their chickens in a very painful manner. which is not torture it is just remorseless and cruel. but in no way shape or for torture. a chicken still lives after it's head is chopped off. probably in a lot of pain. that while being a cruel way to kill a chicken is not technically torture. it's just killing it outright
User avatar #106 to #105 - ilcecchino ONLINE (08/05/2012) [-]
They would not waste time and personell power to harm their chickens prior to killing them to beat them or hurt them.
#114 to #106 - heyimawesome (08/05/2012) [-]
You do know about all of the harsh conditions they live in right? They are forced into cages that are too small. Sometimes they are left without movement for so long that their feet morph around the cage wires. Their cages are never cleaned, so they are living in their own filth. They sear off their beaks and sometimes break or cut off their legs while they are alive. They pump them full of chemical and hormones that cause cancers and other organ issues and failures. One supplier was caught jumping up and down on live chickens, drop-kicking them like footballs and slamming them into walls, apparently for fun. Veterinarians partnered with KFC have called for changes in treatment or even shutting down plants because of the cruelty, but their pleas are ignored. Do you really think that this isn't forged pain or discomfort? KFC doesn't pay for free range chickens. Please learn a little before you post idiotic things like this again.

Try the New York Times, bro. www.nytimes.com/2004/07/20/business/kfc-supplier-accused-of-animal-cruelt y.html?pagewanted=all&src=pm. The rest of it is from a book called Don't Eat This Book by Morgan Spurlock and from a class I was in last year at college. Nice try.

If I was gay, and there was a bunch of butthurt redneck retards opposing my sexuality all gathering together to eat some fried chicken (gobbling down ***** ?) that would somehow symbolize the oppression of my sexuality, then yeah, I would go make out with another guy outside just to piss them all off.
But I'm not gay, so I won't do that, instead I'll just laugh at your inferiority over the internet.

Your post explains very well the mentality of a mentally-ill homosexual. If they cannot get their way, they must resort to pure shock value. Link to content related.

You realise they already ARE getting their way, right? It's not "resorting to shock value", it's " ******* off a bunch of retards who are angry over petty ******** and express it by eating fried chicken".
And FYI, there are gay people who are ******* weird, just as there are straight people.

So using that logic there should be nothing wrong with supporting a business which holds their own opinion. It applies well to the capitalist/Libertarian ideal.

What I find disgusting is that the *************** like you are quite hypocritical indeed. You exercise your right to free speech by participating in sexual degeneracy, while at the same time restricting freedom for everyone else. Mayor Rahm Emanuel of the United State's African colony of Chicongo is preventing Chick- fil A from opening any new restaurants within city borders, I bet you agree with his actions.
User avatar #163 to #121 - gammajk ONLINE (08/05/2012) [-]
Restricting freedom? Isn't that what YOU'RE doing? I personally don't give a **** about Chick-Fil-A because I'm not an obese retard, but if people want to stop them from opening stores then that's their choice.
And I like how hateful you are against gays. You got some repressed feelings there, sport?
