He also has a lesbian daughter. He wouldn't even support his own daughter if she wanted to get married. Class Act.

there's nothing wrong with being gay. I just hate when people promote it and advertise like crazy that their company supports it. Like okayyyyy you support gay marriage but if gays wanna be equal then they shouldn't support anything. It's the same thing like what morgan freeman said about black history month and racism, just don't talk about it. That's what we have to do with this too, just dont talk about gay rights and support and people will learn on their own to respect them instead of getting fed up of looking at rainbows in walmart commercials
User avatar #114 to #15 - dbrak (08/02/2012) [-]
I agree, but disagree. It wasn't talked about for the last few thousand years (the greeks were fairly open with it way back when). it made gays feel closed off and whatnot, which is why no one was out of the closet. At least now it's happening slowly. you can't just do nothing about it. The whole racism thing is true because blacks already have their rights. when gays get theirs, then I will say that it's time to just silently integrate. but until then I think it's important to let bigots know that the Dark Ages are over.

I hate that christian political assholes deny two gay people the right to be happy. they don't have to have a christian marriage, they can have their own goddamn ceremony and just be legally wed! for pity's sakes, chistians didnt invent the concept of marriage but they act like their the only culture with it! I cant name a culture that doesn't have its own form of marriage. Christianity isn't the only religion in the world, so why should minority religions that accept gay marriage have to be subject to law preventing it made by single-minded twats?!?!

sorry, I've been wanting to rant about that for awhile...
#25 to #18 - anon (08/01/2012) [-]
It's not just Christians. Plus most Christians are fine with it. People who are against gays aren't against them because the bible says to be, they are because they think it;s weird or they don;t understand it or something, they just use their religion to try to justify it. My uncle's gay and he goes to church, got married at that church and everything. Nobody has even once said anything to him about it and it didn't cause a big thing when they got married. Most people are okay with gay marriage, that includes Christians.

My Half sister is lesbian, and my father (not her father) who is mormon uses it as another excuse to hate her, as also uses his religion to keep tea, coffee and anything fun out of the house -.-

it's mostly catholic christians that don't support gay marriage, i find. almost entirely, in fact.

i don't really have a point to make, it's just an observation i've made.

People making an issue out of nothing, it clearly says "all men are created equal" and we aren't ruled by the bible.... easy solution, government stops discriminating against gays when it comes to marriage and equality and religious institutions can choose to marry them under their religion or not and the bigots can continue to hate, they just have to hate in silence like the racists which is how it should be. The fact that a group of people's rights is even up for debate in America when our constitution clearly tells us what to do in this situation is very very disappointing. We aren't moving forward, we are moving backward.

I don't understand, why can't they just claim the pursuit of happiness? It is our governments right to guarantee of happiness. So, what the **** government?

User avatar #45 to #35 - SniperKitty (08/01/2012) [-]
It's like the people who claim Obama is a Muslim....

Who cares if Obama is a Muslim or a Christian, as long as he governs as neither.

The problem is our government is filled to the brim with fundamental Christians and Catholics, hardly and Jewish people and no Muslims to my knowledge. That is fine, anyone can have any belief they want, but the Christian and Catholic fundamentalists are pushing very hard to put the bible in our government and they are backed by the ever growing, ever powerful Catholic Church.

We need to keep religion separate, that's why churches and church affiliates are tax free. To keep tax exemption they are prohibited from involving themselves in politics. That was put in place to keep what is happening now from happening. But we have pushed the Constitution and our rights as Americans away and have replaced it with the bible even though we are filled with many different religions.

They shouldn't even HAVE to fight, if this was the America it was SUPPOSED to be gays would marry, adopt, wouldn't have to worry about getting fired for being gay, women wouldn't have to worry about her boss choosing to take away contraception coverage, and our teen pregnancy would go down because we would be forcing our schools to teach safe sex instead of abstinence. Have your thoughts, beliefs, ideas, but keep them out of government because it does nothing but restrict rights of people who don't think the same way. Government needs to be about the people not the religion.
#51 to #45 - danytheop (08/01/2012) [-]
I agree, I am neutral I find all this religion fight and tolerance **** absurd. People can believe what they want too. But, they need to keep their beliefs out of the government because next thing we know it, everyone is pregnant, everyone is married, and everyone is close minded and controlled by the government.
Oh **** , I just realized their master plan. Everyone get their tin hats and ham radios!

It's sad how a 4th grader can understand "All men are created equal" yet politicians don't seem to understand that it does mean ALL, not just the ones they deem acceptable.
User avatar #57 to #54 - danytheop (08/01/2012) [-]
Don't take that as serious I was just going for the 'lols'

But, yeah I just don't understand how government officials, dictate the country from a book of collected stories from over 200 centuries ago. I used centuries because I can't think of the proper term for a thousand years sorry, brain-fart.

Also, could you please explain why people should even get to be in the government without taking an IQ test? I mean seriously, they're a bunch of little kids fighting in the sand box about who is right.

Our Congress is filled with dumbasses, democrat and republican alike. They act like children you're right. We used to be able to get **** done with two parties, but now it's like "oh I'm Democrat so if it says Republican I'm against it even if I would otherwise agree with it" and vice versa.... it's infuriating, seems like we just have to sit and watch them fight until we crumble into nothing. Our government needs to step it up, because this isn't working and people are getting pissed off that they earn more than the middle class American and our tax dollars are paying for them to be idiots. And it isn't about them being idiots, they know what they are doing, they are doing it on purpose. The Republicans even said that their main goal these 4 years is to get Obama out of office. They are intelligent, and they know full well what they are doing, it may seem they are doing it out of idiocy, but that's far from the truth, they know, they just don't care the repercussions for our country.

"Our top political priority over the next two years should be to deny President Obama a second term." ~ Mitch McConnell

And, that is exactly why our economy is suffering and we are the laughing stocks of the world. I just hope we can get it together.
#81 to #33 - filwit (08/01/2012) [-]
And thus, the inherit problem with a Republic. It's only a relatively thin buffer between pure democracy which works according to popular opinion rather than sound reasoning and demonstrable evidence.

This is why we need to move towards a system which eliminates elected authority in favor or transparent, provably-best ideas.

In the UK, I'm a Conservative who also happens to be a Christian, but to be a conservative in America I would have to hate gays, sex, free health care, swearing, follow admittedly outdated rules of Christianity, and stick assorted firearms up my fart box balloon knot

Whut?

User avatar #90 to #50 - SniperKitty (08/02/2012) [-]
Quick explanation.....

Conservative:

Early America- Strict interpretation of the Constitution

America Now- Strict interpretation of the Bible

I would love to be a Conservative back when America was young.
#157 to #90 - anon (08/02/2012) [-]
because they were basically liberals then, and liberals were what today we call conserative
#58 to #50 - anon (08/01/2012) [-]
you are horribly misinformed due to media bias. . conservatives are open to other peoples ideas even when we disagree. Liberals ridicule anyone who disagrees with their view and try to pass laws to get conservative talk shows off the radio and TV (for more info google "fairness doctrine" ). conservatives don't "hate gays" , though we probably hate "free health care" in the form that it has been passed here.
