1. That's even worse.

2. Plenty of people choose religion.

People who are blindly religious are dumb as **** , which is why I prefer the Unitarian Universalist approach.

Blind atheists are bad too. ( i''m an atheist) Honestly, instead of putting down other religions, we should be looking in and exploring what it has to offer. I've studied many religions and i find myself with atheism because I have question that i'm not content in gods answering of. It just depends of preferences. One thing i have to say those is never, EVER, following anything you base your life on blindly, you can be used by the people who know what their doing as a ploy, always be smart and careful.

tl;dr:make sure you know about your belief and others beliefs.

Now here's a atheist picture I love.

We need to stop defining everyone by names and definitions. We build walls between each other when we really should just except each other's beliefs. That's the only way humanity can progress to it's full potential.

how about we agree that when people embrace a belief (christianity, atheism, etc) to the point of fanaticism, in which they will listen to nothing contradictory to their belief, it's just plain annoying.

As a christian, id like to say that a lot of atheists dont like us "shoving our religion down their throats" or things of the sort, but they dont respect our choices either. Im not angry or butthurt at the post or anything, but if you want your opinion respected, dont be a hypocrite. im fine with atheists and people of other religions. they have their choice i have mine, why should it ******* matter. i believe in God, you dont. ****************** . I just dont see why some religious people hate on atheists or visa versa.

first off, are you retarded? you couldnt have just replied to my comment? second, yeah the post is demeaning to me and my religion. Third (yeah im Catholic and i can count to three how stupid am i now?) youre just a dick, man. youre exactly what my comment is about; you just straight insulted my entire religion, me, and all the people who practice it. in nearly all cases just because i believe in something doesnt make me something else. where is the logic in this? i cant even comprehend the ammount of ******** that just entered my mind

That's how they work bud. It doesn't have to make sense to others if it makes the slightest bit of sense to them. Just like those assholes that shout to random people on the street that they are going to hell and calling them whores and sodomites without knowing them making a bad name for those who do have a faith. Just remember not all Atheists are like him. Not all want to push their beliefs on others.

User avatar #288 to #286 - cullenatorguy (08/01/2012) [-]
I wasn't saying that in an insulting way, or trying to be funny. I think there was pity in my voice when I thought that through. Religious people, not necessarily you, act like little children with a gun. A few know what it is, and pick it up with care. Others know what it is, but pick it up and flail it around. Others don't pick it up, realizing it's a bad idea. They know what it's capable of, so they don't touch it. And then there are those that pick it up and start shooting.

also look at funnyjunk, its full of atheists yet you see people bashing gays all over the place, also bashing religious people a lot (like this post) but you never see a post bashing atheists do you?
User avatar #302 to #300 - cullenatorguy (08/01/2012) [-]
Any "gay bashing" is a joke. Calling someone a fag doesn't mean the person who said it is against gay people. I've seen a few, but the problem with those posts is that the joke normally states something that no atheists believe. Most of them don't generalize or make fun of our habits, they lie about our beliefs. Like any joke about evolution about how it's all by chance. It's not, and it makes the joker look like an idiot. If the joke stretched the truth at all I could laugh at it, but they don't.
#298 to #297 - funmanigro (08/01/2012) [-]
that we're humans, humans have choices and opinions, and some people just dont like gays.
User avatar #301 to #298 - cullenatorguy (08/01/2012) [-]
But what do they justify that with? Everyone gets hurt, but when it's because of their beliefs, it's caused by religion.

#106 to #71 - jashipley (08/01/2012) [-]
thank you good sir. its just ignorant either way. the ironic thing is that it takes just as much faith to believe in God as it does to believe there is no God. crap like this should get thumbed down as soon as it pops up no matter what side its from. we're here for funny, not religious debates and crap.
User avatar #108 to #106 - italianchef (08/01/2012) [-]
on top of that, people jump at every chance that they can to start religious ********** , and EVERYONE JOINS. its not all that hard to ignore it when it happens
User avatar #210 to #71 - theist (08/01/2012) [-]
It's because those who are uncertain of their belief to be true, need confirmation by constantly battling the enemy. That's why you see Atheists constantly reassuring themselves that God doesn't exist, yet see hardly any Christians or religious people on the internet starting debates.

Those who are confident in their beliefs don't need reassurance.
User avatar #213 to #210 - italianchef (08/01/2012) [-]
i dont know if atheists necessarily arent confident in their beliefs but you gotta point
User avatar #215 to #213 - theist (08/01/2012) [-]
My guess is that those that are confident, don't bother with silly debates on the internet. It's those that aren't confident that need the reassurance.
User avatar #273 to #210 - cullenatorguy (08/01/2012) [-]
Haha noooo. I don't start debates because I'm not confident in myself, I start them because it opens people's minds to other possibilities, and sometimes shows them how silliness of their beliefs. The world needs more atheists.

Atheist (most) believe christians are stupid for believing something that isnt tangible
User avatar #169 to #166 - italianchef (08/01/2012) [-]
i understand that fully but thats the exact reason its based on faith. many scientists believe in anit (or dark or whatever) matter, and im pretty sure that isnt tangible (i believe in that too)
User avatar #177 to #169 - IncarceratedNinja (08/01/2012) [-]
A few words of wisdom i heard while lurking around:

Christians' sole belief is faith in God, something that isn't tangible.

Atheists' main argument is Christians believing in something that isn't tangible.

Neither' belief or argument means anything to the other party. Its beating a dead horse.
User avatar #184 to #177 - italianchef (08/01/2012) [-]
you have a really good point
#75 to #71 - curbed (08/01/2012) [-]
I agree 100% People forget that **** gets annoying either way. Why can't people just let others believe what they want to believe?
User avatar #76 to #75 - italianchef (08/01/2012) [-]
exactly. i know its sorta a cliche but why cant people just ******* get along
#79 to #76 - curbed (08/01/2012) [-]
I guess people just feel the need to make others the same as they are. It's stupid but when people are narrow minded they have trouble seeing that people are fine just the way they are. They can't understand that the way one person views the world, as long as it isn't hurting anyone, then it won't effect them in any way. I don't know if they feel threatened by how one person views things differently or what. Personally I feel that people are free to believe in whatever they want, you could believe in fairies for all I care, it won't effect me.

But just like some atheists people who don't use it:
-Will talk **** about people who do use it even if they've said nothing about the people who don't use.
-Feel they are better or smarter than people who do use it.
-Won't accept people who are not willing to give it up.
-May expect people to stop using it because they feel the people who use it would be better off without it.
Keyword some.

Its funny because usong absolute terms to describe things is wrong not only in this case, but in everything. It immediately invalidates any statement unless you can prove that there are no exceptions; not a few, but rather zero exceptions.
