no, even frodo was saying this "You've left out one of the chief characters - Samwise the Brave. I want to hear more about Sam"

You also play as him in the video game of the third movie. That game was my childhood man. So i always had him being the hero in perspective.

Frodo: carries a ring and complains about the burden it's putting on him
Sam: carries the gear, food, supplies and the rest without ever complaining.

and then you go back and watch the cartoon version of the lord of the rings and you'll never look at sam the same way again...

Did anyone else cry at the end of Return of the King? I felt really bad for Sam.

Sam is like the Kato of LOTR.

Most Badass thing about Sam? After all the Elves left Middle Earth, and there was no way to get across the sea, he still left on a boat to go to the undying lands and live forever, as he held the ring and resisted it, so was given that power. Also, he was the only one (other than Aragorn) to resist the ring's temptation, so that makes him a hero, despite all the other things he done.

Oh, and he also fought Goblins with a frying pan, that's ******** in my books.

This is what astounds me the most, in the movies it seems that Sam doesn't even want to take the ring, he just follows frodo and helps him, defending him against every mofo in the middle earth, so if he is so resistant to the power of the ring, why didn't he carry it himself?

To me, Sam was stronger than Frodo, more resistant, tougher, better fighter, more careful and wiser, he was the perfect candidate; or at least it's what I figured in the movies, his only .

ps: sorry for my english, I'm french

It's okay about your language, it made perfect sense. And I guess, when Tolken wrote the book, he just figured Sam would be better as a loyal servant, than a protagonist, and I think he fits that role perfectly. It gives off a good dynamic, and I think is meant to show people how sometimes, the most overlooked people and details, are the most important in the order of things. Tolkein had a very coy way of writing.

Well, Frodo had to carry the Ring of power. It was corrupting him the whole time, and Sam would never have been able to deal with the strain or power of the ring. Also, read the books they're much better than the movies.

JRR Tolkein himself agrees with you.

He reminded me of the main character (the guy you play as) of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. Even though he (you) does all the work, and is the only true badass throughout all the ******** happening, you only get remembered as "the guy who helped the hero". Such ******** .
User avatar #172 to #149 - fuzzyballs (07/24/2012) [-]
the guy who helped the hero? the guy who is the master of every goddamn guild, who killed half the population of cyrodill (bandits) and killed most of the wildlife
and still, you don't feel like you accomplihed anything

you're THAT guy/girl/reptile

Meh, people go around calling you the hero of Kvatch and you are given the armor of the emperor or something. I think the prisoner got a lot of fame

In an interview with Todd Howard on Skyrim he said "In oblivion, you weren't the hero, you were the guy who helped the hero, and we wanted Skyrim to have a different feel to it, like you were the champion this time around."

Yes, the Hero of Kvatch did get a little recognition, but it wasn't any where near what he deserved.

Well, i guess that's true.. I did feel left out when all the Akaviri was all like "Hail the Dragonborn! **** the guy who helped him"
User avatar #148 - BwainPhreeze (07/24/2012) [-]
I thin that he was. Frodo was a ****** , but i suppose that was because of the ring
