Ah yes, Ghost in the Shell.

An animation centered on the philosophical concept of the meaning of existence in an advanced futuristic world where even the human soul can be assigned to machinery.

Reduced to fetishism by many in the modern age.

But yeah, Cyborg Bodysuits? Can't be too far off.

I would prefer Shadowrun, where cybernetics mix it up with magic users.

anon jensen?, if you think that with just a name and a surname we can find someone among the millions of jensens that are in the world, dont you think that with her brothers name we could find her?
User avatar #73 to #70 - wajaba (07/22/2012) [-]
and actually iv found someone with only knowing her first name...
User avatar #72 to #70 - wajaba (07/22/2012) [-]
her brothers name would bring up the game character, among other very common names, but she has a rather unique first name

Anyone else feel like this is just kind of a japanese rip-off of blade runner?
I don't mean that it's a bad film, but it just feels very similar, especially the 2nd movie that's all about what it means to be human.
It's almost like the producer had read Do androids dream, and just decided to make his own unofficial version.
#58 to #51 - anon (07/21/2012) [-]
You've gotta remember that Do androids dream of Electric Sheep was debatably the most influential Sci-fi book of the 20th Century.
Blade Runner was definitely a key influence for Ghost in the Shell, but calling it a rip-off it a bit gratuitous considering that Blade Runner was effectively a film adaptation of Do Androids dream.
It'd be on the same level as pointing fingers at every modern fantasy novel for being inspired by Lord of the Rings.

Not ever seeing an episode of the this or even hearing of this, my thoughts immediately turned to Leonard L. Church.

it was a comic then ghost in the shell movie came out.......later they made a new tv series that didnt really have much in common to the origional movie, then they made the 2nd series and a few movies that goes with the new series.

User avatar #37 to #19 - MakiChan (07/21/2012) [-]
watch the orgional movie.....then watch both seasons of series then the innocence and solid stae movies, the movies may take place during the series sorta but it seems to be better to watch at the end.
User avatar #71 to #19 - lpjazzman ONLINE (07/21/2012) [-]

i watched the series then the movies
#25 to #19 - anon (07/21/2012) [-]
There was first a movie. I think it's called Ghost In The Shell: Solid State Society. After that season 1 of Stand Alone Complex is about the Laughing Man Incident. Season 2 is about the Individual Eleven.

You may see two other movies titled The Laughing Man Incident and Individual Eleven. They are the same thing as the episodes with various filler cut out. They show the main story, just without the little side stories.
User avatar #29 to #25 - waffies (07/21/2012) [-]
Solid state society was not first unless i am wrong....
User avatar #35 to #29 - MakiChan (07/21/2012) [-]
there was a manga then a movie came out in like the early 90s or something then fast forward a few years and they made the new tv series sac and 2nd season and they have about 2 movies set in same world as the series. the series and the origional movie have very little in common.
User avatar #36 to #35 - waffies (07/21/2012) [-]
Indeed. I personally enjoyed the show just fine by jumping straight into it, watching it till the end, then watching the more recent movies.
User avatar #38 to #36 - MakiChan (07/21/2012) [-]
well i had the orgional movie for a long time like on VHS when it first came out long time lol the series and the new movies are all in thier own world sorta sep from the orgional manga and movie.....all are very good.

Ghost in the shell: stand alone complex: The Laughing Man (movie)
Ghost in the shell: stand alone complex: 2nd gig: Individual eleven (movie)
Ghost in the shell: stand alone complex: Solid state society (special)
Ghost in the shell 2.0 (movie)

The Ghost In The Shell series on the laughing man incident is the best anime I've seen thus far. Anyone who hasn't seen it and is into that kind of stuff should really check it out.
