Nothing came before the big bang
because time didn't EXIST before the big bang.
And since there was no time, nothing can come before it.

Read a book.

For the guy who just thumbed me down-

As you enter a black hole several interesting phenomenon start to occur.
Black holes are so dense, have so much gravitational force, that it doesn't only effect light but time itself.
As you approach a black hole, time begins to slow. Slower and slower until, as you enter the black hole, time itself....stops.

Now, before the big bang, all the matter in all the universe was focused in one, infinitesimally small point. A black hole times infinity, if you will. So in that single point, before it exploded into the universe, there was no time.

And since concepts like "before" and "after" are measured by time, you can't have a "before" before there was any time at all.

So, again, there was nothing before the big bang. Because "before" didn't exist.

I am atheist, lets get that out of the way.

What caused the big bang? There was nothing before that and so therefore nothing could have started. Thats what I want to know

So, in 11th grade, I was flipping through my little brothers science book, and I found this page, that was talking about different galaxies. And then I see a picture of a Nebula, and the word Nebula is crossed out, and I see some little **** wrote God in a science book. A ******* SCIENCE book. I had the rage of a thousand suns that night.

There's some really deep **** behind that question. Before the big bang was before time, and before time, there was nothing. But there also wasn't nothing, because there was no time period in which the nothing would exist.

A Certain theory supposes that there was a previously existing universe similar to ours, which stopped expanding and began to collapse in on itself, which caused a large explosion, aka the big bang.

Why the **** does everyone want to know what the universe is

This is actually an interesting question. I think it;s just something people don't like to think about because there's no way you can make sense of it. Because the big bang supposedly happened when the universe was about the size of a marble and less than a second old, so how did it get there? What was in the nothingness before? And why was the universe created, a more interesting question is how? If there was nothing then where did the matter come from that made the universe? There are just so many unanswered questions, questions that simply can't be answered with our limited understanding of the universe. I can come up with no other answer besides intelligent design of some kind. I see no reason why God couldn't have had us evolve, and caused the big bang. There's really no reason why God and science can't be together, the way I see it you can't have one without the other. I view God as a scientist. But that's just me.

Just because we can't understand it now does not mean we should immediately jump to conclusions. Why does there have to be a definite answer now? Progress is being made everyday to better understand our origins and how we came to be. Not ruling out some kind of deity or deities but there is no need to put a stamp on it. Thats the kind of thinking that prevents progress and encourages ignorance.

I think before the big bang there was another universe, who then had collapsed.
Wich created a black hole.
This black hole is where the big bang came from, then it exploded and created a new universe.
Thats my beliefe.
That when this universe is gone, everything will be a black hole and it will explode again.
Thats why no one knows what happened before the big bang.
