The Nightingale armor is ridiculously cool looking but it sucks :( The ancient shroud armor is better IMO, on my thief/assassin (level 76) I use a set of dragonscale I made using my 100 skills in alchemy, smithing, and enchantment (potions to make the other two better for a short time) results are over 5k armor rating and 200% extra damage with bows and one-handed plus some extra health and health regen and 63% stealth boost.

I like it, but I like the ancient shroud armor better (advanced dark brotherhood armor from a misc quest if you haven't seen it, they don't really make it a point to get it) it does more armor and it does stealth stuff like the thieves guild armor, but it replaces pick pocket and lockpick stuff with bow damage and double sneak attack damage.

than the normal dark brotherhood armor but not the ancient shroud. At least not with both upgraded to max and all light armor perks. It's weird because it's inconsistent. There are peices of Ancient Shroud that have more armor and parts of Thieves guild master that have more armor, but I'm fairly certain ancient shroud has more as a set.
