Then again, Photoshop can be free Photoshop if you look in the right places.

No...no modern and effective means of protecting yourself, your loved ones, or your belongings?

Two more questions-
Where do you live exactly?
Is your mom/sister/daughter/wife hot?

1928 Mosin Nagant
Remington 870 w/ 23 in. barrel and modified choke

I should be picking up some more this November, seeing how my local gun range is holding a raffle then with some very nice prices. I used to work there and I have to take my brother-in-law to work there every Tuesday, so I sit around, talking to rednecks and hicks, including my former boss.
#114 - fantomen (07/15/2012) [-]
OP should just get an old Soviet mosin nagant 91/30.
Nice powerful, historic rifle.
And in the US you can buy one when you turn 18, and they only cost around 130 Dollars.

If you buy one, just make sure you clean all the cosmoline (a kind of storage grease used to prevent rust) out of it before you shoot it. It's pretty easy, but it takes a while, and is a bit of hard work. If you don't know how to do it you can read all about it online. Also, if possible buy one made before or after WWII. The quality of the guns made during the war can be a bit iffy.

Unless you live in New York city you shouldn't need a license or registration on such an old rifle.

Oh, and BTW, as previously mentioned. These rifles are powerful. They can punch through military body armor, and you can even kill bear and moose with them, so understandably, they kick quite a bit. If you're a small person you might want to try a little .22 caliber rifle first. They are good for new shooters, because they are quiet, kick very little, and the ammo is dirt cheap for them. But if you think you're man enough to handle the Nazi-killing Mosin Nagant from the start, I say go for it. I learned to shoot with an even bigger gun, and it was never a problem for me.
#131 to #117 - anon (07/15/2012) [-]
If you want to spend a little more money buy an AR15. So much fun and so much you can do with them. You can change out the barrel and firing mechanism and shoot different ammo. A good one will run you at least $800.
User avatar #155 to #131 - fantomen (07/15/2012) [-]
He can't. he lives in New York. There is a state-wide ban on "assault weapons" there.
And Virtually all AR-15s count as "assault weapons".
User avatar #207 to #155 - unpricedcdn (07/15/2012) [-]
Not true, since the nation-wide ban ended in 2004, you can own them. There are just certain restrictions. Officially, an assualt weapon is a semi-automatic with two or more of a certain list of things, such as a bayonet lug, forward grip, and adjustable stock. You can purchase an AR-15 of the same quality as one sold in another state. The main difference is the 10-round detachable magizine capacity. I just go to Pennsylvania to buy my 30-round magazines. On another note, there is no registraion for long guns, only in New York City. New York state is actually okay, not as crazy as California, although I would like the freedoms of some one who lives in Kentucky. Sorry for the long reply, I just didn't want you misleading anyone.
#29 - I Am Monkey (07/14/2012) [-]
I live in New York and guns are essentially illegal. I can't own one for self defense and all the criminals have them. There have been 2 shootings within earshot of my house that the cops could care less about, but if any of the potential victims dare to get a gun of their own there would be a mandatory prison sentence.

:( that blows man.

I live in AZ and we love us some guns. Open carry state, can get damn near anything as long as you go through the proper channels (i.e. register to get a pistol and do the waiting period, rather then buying one off Tom down the street).

It's cool, but I can't afford a gun anyway. I do own a couple knives though. Also legal here.
