Regardless of whether we're capable of perceiving reality, reality is reality and imagination is imagination.
Even though we're not experiencing reality as it truly is doesn't mean there is not an universal reality out there.

So imagination is imagination, and not reality. (Even though it might seem as reality from an individual's point of view)

You might want to look into some of the metaphysical stuff of eastern philosophies, they have pretty interesting notions about imagination and reality.
In particular the concept of "Maya (The Great Illusion)", it is something along the lines of your post.

I see where you're getting at, and I agree with you.
If our mind cannot tell the difference between reality and imagination, imagination appears to be reality.
But I wanted to emphasize on the difference between appearing to be reality and actually being reality.

But I guess this is just nitpicking over the definition of "reality" because I see your point and agree with you.
It is "reality" as far as the mind is concerned since it cannot know the difference anyway.
