This is the spirit your country is made of.

-Words coming from a man living in Europe, not serving a single day, but secretly admiring the service for homeland.

What some of these people commenting don't know is that I am Romanian and Sicilian. My mother came from Romania during their civil war. She was a highly ranked woman (during a time women were just earning their equal rights. She was the first woman to have her title.) They asked her to give a speech on why she is a communist. She told them to eat **** .

Mom had to leave Romania when their Civil war became a blood bath. (Telling a communist government to eat **** isn't healthy when people are already being killed in the streets.) During that time she had been writing to an Sicilian American (my father) She ran away to America and were eventually got married. I was born a year later. My youngest sister also immigrated from Romania. (She was almost deported, but finally got her paper work straight. Not to any fault of her own... it was our government that messed up her papers)

So when people call me an Amerifag or an idiot for supporting my country.. I know what our country has done. I don't support every thing, but that goes along with every government on this world. Some will agree and some wont. Doesn't change a thing when you have people you love there. Both sides of my family either escaped slavery (Sicilian history is long and shocking.) or death for not wanting to be a politician. I'm European by blood and American by birth.

Sorry for a long post. Just thought that it would help the small minded.

TL:DR version. I'm European, but still want to be a Marine.

Alright, here's to all of the people I've just seen bashing this guy. **** You. This guy has joined the marine corps because of his family, and whether or not America is fighting for the right cause or not, you have absolutely NO right to condemn this man for something that is out of his control. Also, I saw that he's doing a computer engineer job, so no, he's not going to go out there and kill random people, nor is that what the marines do. Yes, there have been a few cases of soldiers in any given branch going crazy and killing innocents. That does not mean that every single person in the military is a psychopathic killer. Also, although the Government is protecting its economic interests in the Middle East(just like every other first-world country in existence, so shut up pro-europeans, you're just as bad), they are taking out actual terrorist groups in the process. I don't like their methods, but no single country is perfect in every way, and neither is warfare. Warfare is messy, terrible business, something that you idiots (or me, for that matter, but I know it isn't glorious) know nothing about. You want a humanitarian army? Sorry, none exist. Anyway, this man is simply helping the united States of America, his country. So you're going to call him an evil murderer for showing support for his homeland? Cool, bro. Cool.

I love you right now. So far you're been the only one that has been understanding and open minded about someone joining the military without having served yourself.

that was 20 plus years ago and they're pretty much up to par now but thanks. good luck and be safe when you finally get out there (or who knows, maybe by then we'll have settled stuff down and you can be part of the peace time military. it happens occasionally)

I don't really have the mentality or the stomach to be anywhere near the military, which means I have all the more respect for people who do-after all, I can't do it. I do have an odd tendency to include ex-soldiers in my writings, though-one of these days I'm going to have to actually research on how the military works instead of winging it. But hey, good on you, man.

In other words, you don't have the intelligence required to get a job.
There is no room for you in the modern era, get a timemachine and go back to the 40's.
Then your great grandfather can tell you in person how incredible stupid you are for going to war just because your nation wants more oil and fear from everyone.
It sure is something to have 3 close relatives that served in the Vietnam War, and still not realise how ****** up your military and foreignpolicy is.

I have a perfect score on the asvab. I own a webdesign and webhosting company that I started. I'm proficient in three languages not including programming languages. I got a 3.7 GPA unweighed .. Yeah I'm an idiot for knowing that the Marin Corps has computer fields where you don't go to war..

Oh wait... You know nothing about Military.

I do, most of the men in your family joined the army and half of them died because of it, and your joining the army, not because you yourself want to but because it's an easy choice to make with an easy excuse.

I totally understand you man.
