Bad Luck Japan. Now that Libya changed its flag, Japan is officially the country with most simple flag. No, really, it's just a red ball on a white background.

Now that Libya changed its flag,
Japan is officially the country with most simple flag.
No, really, it's just a ******* red ball on a white background.
I could think of that, If I had a country.
Hmm, good idea, I want a country.

Fire Nation = Japan
Earth Kingdom = China
Water Tribe[s] = Innuits
Air Nomads = Tibetan Monks
User avatar #45 to #43 - Furubatsu (07/05/2012) [-]
there have been kinds of Korea in some areas as well (such as buildings and clothes)
#50 to #43 - saggygrandma (07/05/2012) [-]
Correction: Kyoshi Island = Japan

I'm pretty sure that Earth and Fire are both different areas of China, but I'm wrong about 20% - 80% of the time depending on who I'm talking to.
User avatar #55 to #50 - sidathon (07/05/2012) [-]
Nah, I'd say Kyoshi island is Taiwan. The Fire Nation Isles look ridiculously similar to Japan as they're sort of curved.
#58 to #55 - saggygrandma (07/05/2012) [-]
I would tend to disagree because of the Islander's clothing is more understated much like Japan's compared to the Native Taiwanese.
User avatar #59 to #58 - sidathon (07/05/2012) [-]
A valid point you have got there. Perhaps it can be the island south of China (still part of China just as Kyoshi island is to the Earth Kingdom), the one east of the northeastern Vietnamese coast.
#63 to #59 - saggygrandma (07/05/2012) [-]
Also the face that this guy is eating Sushi.
The giant Eel's name is Unagi, which is Japanese for Eel.
The name "Kyoshi" means teacher in Japanese.
They use the term "Kimono" to refer to Avatar Kyoshi's clothing when trying to prove Aang innocent of killing Chen the Conqueror.
And the Giant Koi fish which are pretty dang important to Japan.

Other than that, though...

Japan's war crimes against Chinese civilians alone warrants their destruction.
Also, we asked them to surrender, telling them that we'd annihilate their cites, each time before the nukes.
User avatar #24 to #18 - archangel (07/05/2012) [-]
still never needed to nuke the cities just a outlying abandoned island would have got the message across but the president wanted to see what it do to living target
it is nothing short of a war crime
#27 to #24 - leathermanshadow (07/05/2012) [-]
It was very necessary, if America invaded over 1,000,000 troops would of died, the Japanese were persistent. They didn't even surrender after the first bomb.
User avatar #31 to #27 - goll (07/05/2012) [-]
so you are saying that nuking cities and killing civilians is an appropriate military tactic?
i can guarantee that if someone nuked an american city there would be hell to pay.
#74 to #31 - anon (07/05/2012) [-]
to be fair. What the Japanese did to Chinese civilians and POV's is more than enough to abandon any kind of sympathy for them. What i find hysterical is that only anti-Americans bring this up. The Japanese are beyond it, they moved on
#73 to #31 - ttarshis (07/05/2012) [-]
Dude if we invaded more civilians would have died especially because we woulda been forced to take Tokyo
#33 to #31 - leathermanshadow (07/05/2012) [-]
See in war you have to be willing to do what the enemy would do to you. Japan would kill our civilians if they had the chance. Ask the Chinese

well yeah, you can't deny that they do an incredibly huge amount of stupid things
#29 to #27 - anon (07/05/2012) [-]
Actually the team that went to Hiroshima to confirm it had been nuked was delayed because the rail network was bombed to hell. The Japanese Government hadn't had the chance to find out what happened before the second bomb. Also the US military wanted to compare the Plutonium bomb with the Uranium bomb.
#30 to #29 - leathermanshadow (07/05/2012) [-]
Japan knew what happened before the second bomb.
#34 to #30 - anon (07/05/2012) [-]
They knew a city wasn't there anymore but they didn't know if it was from a nuclear blast or a conventional fire storm. A well used tactic to destroy vast urban areas made from wood.
#23 to #18 - goll (07/05/2012) [-]
yes because the things the military does totally warrants the bombing of cities resulting in hundreds of thousands of deaths

#32 to #23 - anon (07/05/2012) [-]
I would like to point out that more Japanese civilians would have died in the conventional invasion of japan. Also in full scale war the line legitimate targets and civilians becomes blurred

Japans flag is one of the oldest in the world, with its current design being used since 1870. By extent, the only flag that retained most of its idealistic flag is the USA (Red, white, blue. Stars, Stripes) and Great Britain (Union Jack?)

The alliterative flag, often used in conjunction with Japans flag, is the "Rising sun", the flag of the Imperial Japanese Navy. It was, however, used as a de-facto flag for japan from the WWI era-1946.

Japan's motto is "Where the sun rises." And because the only delt with china, that was were the sun sets, and that was the only world they knew. So the flag represents the sun rising...

this is the older one, and represents the rising sun, since japan is in the far east.
its also used by their navy, as far as i know.
