says the american i assume, with your french fries and colour with no u

to be fair, it's our language cut us some slack

Hahahahah, sadly I live in Canada (although I am an American due to being born during the rage of dual citizenship [pre-1989])

and I only eat poutine. Which I'm surprised aren't accepted more by Americans since it's just fries with gravies and cheese.

What's this color stuff you mentioned?

Frobias, I hate to sound like a douche or something like that, but Canada is in America, so you would technically be an American. I've never understood why people from the United States are called "Americans" yet North America is made up by Mexico, United States, and Canada, not to mention South America and all of it's contents (I wish I knew all of them by heart, but three is easier to count, than say, ten or eleven). It's just logical to say everyone that lives is North and South America is American. Canadians are awesome though :)

America (or Americas) has two continents: North America and South America.

people from Mexico called mexicans
people from Canada called canadians
people from USA called americans

USA stands for United States of America so it is obvious they are called americans... or what would you call them? unitidians? statians?

i hate to sound like a douche but you are stupid as hell
User avatar #39 to #32 - velutluna (07/07/2012) [-]
I know what they are called. I'm not stupid as hell. I was just wondering WHY. That doesn't make any sense to me. I was also sincere when I said I didn't want to sound like a douche. I'm sorry if I came across that way. Thanks for your input though.

Holy **** man that didn`t click in. And trust me, I know. When I was 7 I had to live in the state of Georgia for a while and kept failing Spelling B`s because I`d use the U (WHERE IT ********* SHOULD BE) and they said I was doing it wrong. Silly yankees
#38 to #11 - anon (07/06/2012) [-]
Technically, you were. In the original Latin the extra u is not used. Ex: color is color. No u.
The French uselessly added the u, and you guys got those words from them. At some point the Americans had taken a history book and saw the trend of the original Latin having no extra u.
So technically, both the British and French spellings are completely wrong.

To be fair, the original Latin has all words like "color" without the u. We're just reverting it.

Alan Carr's act in a nutshell:' "I'M GAAAAAAY!!!" *skip about, and do pretty much anything else possible to make sure that everyone is aware of the fact he's gay*'
I have no problem at all with gay guys but this guy seriously takes the piss. Sort of the same way that deodorant smells nice, but spray too much on and you smell unpleasant, like some kind of cleaning product.
