Gee, phones don't change as much visually over 4 years as they do over 20? Who would've thought.
User avatar #125 to #122 - drewsky (07/02/2012) [-]
Apple prides themselves for their creativity and originality. Most of the phones listed here don't have THAT big of a gap in between models, anyway.

PS controllers suck balls. The analogue sticks should have little dimples in them so your finger doesnt just slide off the top, and you end up shoving you thumbs under the analogue stick to try and get any control at all.

inb4 PS fanboys with "best console ever" arguments thumb me down

prolly going to get a lot of hate for this, but i hate PS controlers. they are just way to uncomfortable for my hands.
User avatar #28 to #21 - bambambaby (07/02/2012) [-]
I can't stand Play Station controllers. They feel too fragile and like toys.
#39 to #28 - slippythetoad (07/02/2012) [-]
I don't know what you are saying. My playstation controllers feel as if they have the same material hardness as diamonds.
User avatar #41 to #39 - bambambaby (07/02/2012) [-]
They just feel too light in my hands.
User avatar #56 to #41 - wiljones (07/02/2012) [-]
i know what you mean i once shattered my ps2 controller like it was ******* glass
User avatar #120 to #56 - hokiefan (07/02/2012) [-]
then dont throw your controller across the room when you die
#37 to #28 - jjholt (07/02/2012) [-]
My little brother got upset at a game he was playing one day and he decided to throw the controller across the room.

It put a hole in the wall while leaving the controller in tact.

I just meant compared to xbox controllers. It's just a personal preference.
#174 to #28 - turnipvision (07/02/2012) [-]
I agree with you on that, but they don't really feel fragile, more insubstantial than anything. They feel lighter than you initially think they should :) Then again, Xbox controllers weigh about 3 times as much, and I like to feel the weight behind it. Not trying to spark a comment war, just expressin' myself :)
User avatar #354 to #174 - bambambaby (07/02/2012) [-]
XD Oh man. I expressed my personal preference, and got -36 thumbs. What the hell.
User avatar #49 to #28 - AustenAnarchy (07/02/2012) [-]
I've broken countless xbox controllers because the battery holder breaks and the triggers stick if raged on. I still have the original controller I got with the ps3 and it completely works
User avatar #63 to #49 - bambambaby (07/02/2012) [-]
I just prefer xbox controllers because they're bigger and heavier. They also just feel more natural to me.
#173 to #63 - anon (07/02/2012) [-]
That's what she said

A tip for increasing the life on your controllers: Don't hurt them, they don't like it.

Something about the gamecube controller was just so right, it fit so well in your hands.

they were nice when i was younger
they fit my hands
i hated XBox controllers when i was younger because they were too big
my opinions have swapped now
PS controllers just don't fit my hands anymore and XBox controllers are perfect
User avatar #149 to #21 - InfernalOneShot (07/02/2012) [-]
But the original PS1 controllers didn't have dualshock/analog sticks
#159 to #149 - fuckingniggerjew (07/02/2012) [-]
they do, i even had one
#160 to #159 - InfernalOneShot (07/02/2012) [-]
original one is bottom left.

bottom left -> bottom right -> top left -> top right (being a ps2 controller)

Don't even need it. Mine's like indestructible. No clue how, it's been dropped a million times.
User avatar #103 to #102 - anonymouslive (07/02/2012) [-]
Just saying. I don't know how, I've scraped the metal siding, but the glass is fine.
User avatar #165 to #103 - fromthefuture (07/02/2012) [-]
I've done the same, I was wondering for a while after dropping my phone like 4 or 5 times on concrete, dirt, other hard surfaces. Until one day I was too confident in my phones **** taking abilities and dropped it on wood flooring and it ******* broke... on wood flooring...
#343 to #165 - anon (07/02/2012) [-]
my nokia has withstood a launch from the bottom of the staircase to the top so I could answer a call.

was a sales call, so it went back down after.

Your 2 foot pavement drops do not phase me.
User avatar #311 to #165 - anonymouslive (07/02/2012) [-]
Aha, I'm surprised it hasn't. I think it's fallen on concrete like, 15 times. And, two of those times I was biking and it fell out. Both pieces of glass have only minor scratches, and the metal is chipped and scraped. Eh, If it does break I'll just buy a new back, probably get a better one.

You should put years on all the phones. Since with all the other companies, you started with phones they made decades ago, and with Apple, you started with their first phone, just a few years ago. Of course they're not going to innovate too much asthetically on a product that seems to be getting them ********* of money.

Not an Apple fanboy, far from it. Just using logic.
User avatar #65 - tehweave (07/02/2012) [-]
Motorolla, Nokia, and Blackberry have been around for a long ass time.

Apple's been making phones since 2006.

Some of those phones date back to the 80s. So of course they look different.

Just sayin.

6 years is more than enough time for at least some progress.
#73 to #71 - Jevonsp (07/02/2012) [-]
And there has been progress. duh. lol look at the original iphone compared to the 4s.
#74 to #73 - thefuckingpatsfan (07/02/2012) [-]
6 years to make it a centimeter taller?
#91 to #74 - anon (07/02/2012) [-]
Yeah besides the processor, battery, RAM, Retina Display, improved Touch Interface, better reception, data management, physical materials, and iOS software updates...
There has been no advancements in iPhone technology
#92 to #91 - thefuckingpatsfan (07/02/2012) [-]
Either you're an apple representative paid to spew retarded ******** like that, or you're a sheep that mimics what it hears from apple representatives. because all of that isn't significant in the slightest. ram, battery, touch interface, reception? too bad those are all still crap on those phones.

Let's compare the iPhone 4S to the Nokia Lumia 900, shall we? Siri is ******* retarded to begin with, if you aren't screaming at her, she doesn't understand what it is you're saying. Also, the microphone and speaker on the iPhones has always been ****** . That's not really something that a company based on being creative and wanting to be made famous for it's ability to play media wants to be known for. Those are just some of the cons of the iPhone 4S, now for the Lumia 900. The speaker isn't quite what I was expecting it to be, but it's good enough that I can hear it clearly from about 30-40 feet away. The battery life isn't what I thought it would be, but it still lasts all day even with constant texting. Now for some pros on both phones. The iPhone 4S is a HUGE step up from the iPhone 4, it's much faster, has a larger memory space, and the touch interface is much better. It's not too big and it's not too small, it fits comfortably in one's pocket. For the Lumia 900, it's much faster and has a smoother interface than the iPhone 4S, hell, it's even faster than the Galaxy S2 which is why Apple had to make the iPhone 4S in the first place. I really like the weight of the Lumia 900, it's not extremely heavy and it's thin as well as comfortable to be carrying around all day. In a drop test, the Lumia 900 surpassed the iPhone 4S in every angle and height. The screen doesn't shatter at all, since Nokia has been investing in Gorilla Glass.

I'm currently using the Lumia 900 and my mom uses the iPhone 4S, that's how I know my phone is fast, lighter weight, and easier to use.

PCs have looked the same for the last 15 or so years.
Are pcs now the same as PCs then? No, didn't think so.
I'm not a fan of apple but you are just making yourself look stupid.

Motorola changed because it was way too big to carry. Went down from the size of a brick to a normal phone.
Blackberry changed the keyboard size to add more keys because there were not enough keys, they also had to change the screen quality so it became coloured.
Nokia also had to change the size because it was too big and add proper coloured screens.
Apple had a phone that could fit in your pocket from the start and had coloured screens.
All of the phones seem to have changed for the better apart from Apple, who really got the right size, screen and is the only touchscreen in the content.

they got the rigth size after everyone else proved what worked. then they took out a bunch of features threw them back in after everyone was locked nicely in a contract and bam double profits yet called an inovator. although not shown all companies have touch screens the new nokia running windowsblackberry running its own and the motorolla razer running android
#4 to #3 - anon (07/01/2012) [-]
I like the way that you consider the iPhone getting it right the first time, in 2007, when a lot of phones have had time to innovate themselves. The phones from Motorola, Nokia and Blackberry are much, older, dating back to over 10 years ago. You cannot really compare a phone that has sprung up in the time of innovation and advanced evolution.

I suppose you have a point though, at these those phones actually changed and had bigger innovations. Apple never changes, which is why I stopped using one. They bring out phone which can talk to you, but cannot play Flash...
User avatar #294 - imcoolashell (07/02/2012) [-]
dude the difference between the iphone and those other phones is that the iphone is only like5-7 years old and the other phones are at least 15
the only reason the iphone doesn't change in looks that much is because there really hasn't been a technological advancement, the only thing that changes is the hardware and software
