Trees actually take an extremely strong force to be moved, considering that it's literally rooted to the ground. People often mistakenly think GTA is unrealistic because of how it's impossible to uproot a tree but poles only take a minor collision to be knocked down, but poles are actually made to do that in real life for safety reasons.

Even when hit full speed by a 16 wheeler / military tank?
I'm sure it doesn't behave like that in the game for a "reality" purpose, rather than "hey, let's make destructible scenery?" "No time, just make it static.".

Have you played True Crime? The way trees came out on that game were terrible, I can't really blame Rockstar, but they probably did it using the "realistic" excuse, while not considering that you can drive tanks and such.

the reason rockstar didnt put destroyable scenery is because the game engine would require to much change and the hardware on consoles wouldnt handle it.
plus you have to think of the story as well, if you was to destroy a building that is a mission building where a cut-scene takes place the game would glitch, they would have to work around that.

theres countess other reasons but cba
