I don't really believe that we're over-populated right now. Yes, we've got our starving people, nut that's more a lack of to much selfishness and not enough giving. Just give us a couple more centuries then you'll realize exactly what over-population is.

In a couple of centuries we'll have populated Mars, thus preventing overpopulation.

Our population is actually not that bad at all...

We can fit every man, woman, and child into the state of Texas with 1000 feet to spare for every person. That pretty much means we all get our own apartment..

I'm cool with that.

It's not the fact that we are compact (UNINTENTIONAL RHYME WHOOOOO), because yes we can all fit in Texas. It's not space. It's that we won't have resources like food for everyone.

Alright, new plan, everybody move to texas, and we can use the rest of the planet for farmland, mining, and other resources.

I'm still good with that.

It doesn't matter than we can fit into the state of Texas, because we won't. We may be the most intelligent species of animal on this planet, but we (as a species) are still so dimwitted as to not work together, every individual hand in hand (not literally). We, ultimately, are lazy and greedy. These two personality traits which are shared between every human regardless of intellect (granted, some more than others) combined with a growing population which will cause different problems will ultimately be our demise. Humans will never come together in such a way to truly save our species, and survive for millions of years. As our population grows, we cut away more forest, consume more food, and thus produce more waste to help harm our own planet. And as any semi-intelligent person knows, harming our planet harms us.
This is getting a bit long so I'll end it with this: we humans will never solve the problems which we have created for ourselves because of our inability to show that we are better than other animal species except in intelligence. Sadly, we will die with our planet, that I am sure.

In some hundred billion years the sun of our system is going to have expanded so far it will heat the Earth to far to high a temperature to support life, then eventually it will basically "consume" Earth. So humans vs Earth? Ha, eventually the sun will just pwn everything.

I've lived on a National Wildlife Refuge for close to 18 years of my life. Sirlanksalot, your picture described how i felt about living there...and explaining what a NWR was to people.
