I mean, energybending is a way to transfer knowledge, which Aang did to Korra. But you're right, it was a bit of a stretch

not as much as a bitch when all the nations are in harmony so you can actually learn easier.

I think Aang made her go into it, aang went in it before he masterd it, and it was at an all time low.
User avatar #146 to #42 - Dincorta (06/24/2012) [-]
Well she is a lot older than Aang was when he unlocked his. Technically Aang did it quicker. He took ages because he was only 12. Korra had it easy.
+1

I don't think she mastered it.
Also time traveled a lot faster in LOK. Only a year passes in TLA.
#47 to #42 - anon (06/24/2012) [-]
It was never said if she mastered the avatar state. It could just be the self-defense mechanism kicking in.
User avatar #44 to #42 - EnergizierAnon (06/24/2012) [-]
^ yes. one minute, she couldn't do a thing with it, and the next she could use it at will.
User avatar #89 to #44 - dzeusas (06/24/2012) [-]
Maybe they didn't want to go down that road again and maybe find something else that's difficult to her, like going into the spirit world.

I just want to know what they are going to do with season 2. When Amon took Korras bending I thought season 2 was going to consist of her learning bending again while facing Amon similar to Aang. But now I feel that the 2nd season will be dull.
#36 to #35 - shorttasker (06/24/2012) [-]
i had that same feel. i wish everything would have happened the same except her getting the other three bendings back...i mean maybe she entirely didnt because aang could bend earth in avatar state before he ever learned how

My analysis of the finale... Bolin needs to get some pussy in Season 2... maybe Asami. Prison Break!

Am I the only one who thought the finale could have been two hours? It was a little rushed at times, and the ending really seemed halfassed. If this show was meant to be darker, then show more emotion. Characters would struggle more if they couldn't regain their bending just by asking Korra. Just seemed like they ran out of ideas and gave it the kiddy ending it didn't deserve. I really wish the ending were darker somehow
#180 to #166 - Themajestictaco (06/24/2012) [-]
I see what you mean, however with the dark moments in the episode (Murder suicide) they needed something light. While a lot of the audience is teenagers or beyond a lot of it is still children so they needed to lighten it up a bit.
#167 to #166 - MegaCommenter (06/24/2012) [-]
And FOR ***** SAKE. Korra STILL hasn't gotten mad enough to force the avatar state, and now I think she's even more unlike Aang, it seems she can turn it on whenever she wants. SO bloody anti-climactic. I like this series, but the writing has taken a bit of a dive compared to ATLA.
User avatar #188 to #167 - PlaystationGuy (06/24/2012) [-]
I heard there is only 2 seasons planned so they probably rushed it cause of that :(. It deserves more seasons!
#189 to #188 - MegaCommenter (06/24/2012) [-]
I doubt they'd cram everything into 2 seasons. Every Last Airbender could have been 4.
User avatar #190 to #189 - PlaystationGuy (06/24/2012) [-]
Well they only have 2 seasons planned, on wikipedia and it says the next is 14 episodes. I think they announced it earlier on when the show started so they probably already have the story planned out. I guess its possible for a third season but idk. ATLA was 3 seasons but it was about him learning the elements and defeating the firelord. Korra already learned the first 3 and i guess it took her the entire season to learn airbending and she beat amon. So they did kinda cram everything.
#191 to #190 - MegaCommenter (06/24/2012) [-]
Ohwell, I never expected it to be better than the original.
User avatar #192 to #191 - PlaystationGuy (06/24/2012) [-]
Yeah, but it had a good chance with the darker theme and characters written pretty well. If they only made it longer :(
#194 to #192 - MegaCommenter (06/24/2012) [-]
yeah, it is a little dissapointing if what you're saying is true...
User avatar #195 to #194 - PlaystationGuy (06/24/2012) [-]
Well hopefully after seeing how well first season did they might rethink and make it 3 seasons.
#196 to #195 - MegaCommenter (06/24/2012) [-]
I hope they do something to tell Aang's story, and explain how he died at like 40 something.
User avatar #199 to #196 - PlaystationGuy (06/24/2012) [-]
Yeah and say what happened to some of the older characters. .
User avatar #229 to #167 - mcgeeassy (06/24/2012) [-]
dont u remember why she took so long to actually airbend? her personality is completely opposite from air nomads so she possibly keep her cool longer
#173 to #167 - zombieplayground (06/24/2012) [-]
Aang could turn it on whenever he wanted too? It just took him longer to learn? and why is it a bad thing if she's unlike Aang?
#178 to #173 - MegaCommenter (06/24/2012) [-]
He only managed it for the most part when he was extremely angry, like when Appa got kidnapped. He only learned how to do it for the last episode really. Don't you remember?
#179 to #178 - zombieplayground (06/24/2012) [-]
I remember. I'm just saying he did have the ability to turn it on whenever he wanted. It just took him longer to learn. All the avatars learn at different speeds.
#181 to #179 - MegaCommenter (06/24/2012) [-]
yeah, but the thing about Korra is she has control issues to begin with, mostly with gher temper and patience. If it takes those things along with aligned chakras to master the avatar state, then it's stu[id that she can already do this. Stupid
#182 to #181 - zombieplayground (06/24/2012) [-]
You do realize you're watching a childrens tv show where human beings can shoot fire out of their hands, control human beings by moving the blood around inside of them, shake the very earth we stand on, and summon hurricane force winds at will? and you want to talk about realism?
#183 to #182 - MegaCommenter (06/24/2012) [-]
What's the point in having human characters if emotions and other human problems don't come into play? I suppose you feel the same about every single sci-fi show in existence. Why did you like the Last Airbender then? That's what it was all about!
#184 to #183 - zombieplayground (06/24/2012) [-]
I'm not saying I didn't like the last airbender. I loved that whole series, have watched every episode atleast three times, and I love Korra. I'm just saying at some point you have to realize that this is a kids show and should be taken as such. There's a level of realism you have to just accept when watching these shows. We don't know everything about the avatar state. It's possible Aang found out a way to transfer the knowledge to her sub consciously. We don't know. Just enjoy the freaking show.
#187 to #184 - MegaCommenter (06/24/2012) [-]
I am enjoying it, but everyone is allowed an opinion. It seems the rules on FunnyJunk have been suspended for this.
#233 to #184 - tranminh (06/25/2012) [-]
But like, this season finale was full of deus ex machina, like WAAAYYYYY too much. Firstly, she regains her elements, and then she pretty much masters the avatar state? and then heals everybody. I think it could have been darker and grittier if Korra had to go on a super spiritual and physical journey to learn how to give people's bending back
User avatar #202 to #166 - ithinkimfunny (06/24/2012) [-]
its still a kid's show
#237 to #202 - anon (06/30/2012) [-]
The show was targeted towards the ATLA fans, who mostly all are more mature and are alot older now.
User avatar #197 to #166 - areyounineyet (06/24/2012) [-]
I thought what was gonna happen was that Korra would be able to restore her ties to the elements, and other's, but they would have to completely relearn their bending. That way, in the other seasons, it would follow the same path as A:TLA, where each book is her relearning one of her previous elements.
User avatar #222 to #166 - megatrollinator (06/24/2012) [-]
What about the Murder/Suicide with Tarrlok and Noatak? Is that 'kiddy' in any way?
#230 to #222 - MegaCommenter (06/24/2012) [-]
it's not, but that's not what I'm talking about. I liked that part because they made the story darker than "LOL we r bruddas we gona take ova da wurl now" it was a little unexpected frankly, and I loved it.

I really thought that Mako would lose his bending and Korra goes avatar state at that moment and completely wrecks Amon in that hallway.
