This guy is the guy behind the graphic novels (not the movies) of Watchmen, V for Vendetta, the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and the version of Batman Christopher Nolan based his Dark Knight series on
Wizard is an understatement

None of the top comments have commented on what Alan Moore has written, so I'll give ya the comic book nerd lowdown.
Everyone here has seen V for Vendetta probably. Hell, anon uses the masks from it (which are originally from Guy Fawkes). Alan Moore wrote the graphic novel the movie is based on.
Everyone here has probably seen and loved The Dark Knight. Christopher Nolan found his inspiration for the Dark Knight after reading arguably the best Batman graphic novel/ comic piece ever: The Killing Joke. The Killing Joke also famously paints an origin for the Joker. It builds a maniacal, twisted, yet very conscious and responsible Joker that commits evil willingly and not just because of a mental illness like the other villains Batman faces. This is the Joker that shows up on the silver screen. Not to mention the "Bad Day Mentality" was written in this graphic novel. The Bad Day Mentality is the entire basis for the Dark Knight movie. That golden graphic novel (which every comic book fan should own) was written by this genius, Alan Moore.
The Watchmen is less popular than those two above, but the dark storyline and deep philosophical and moral questions that lie behind it makes it a highly influential comic book series. Alan Moore constructed that, too.
In short, if you love comic books with dark, elaborate, realistic, and thought provoking plots and characters; this man should be your god.

Alan Moore invented the Watchmen, V for vendetta, and some of the best DC comics ever.

This post isn't as inaccurate as you may think.
