So basically... Burning coal is "solar energy"?
User avatar #7 to #4 - rainbowrush ONLINE (06/03/2012) [-]
All energy on earth comes from the sun.
#9 to #7 - realyboredguy (06/03/2012) [-]
Yes, except for oil and geothermal energy, because oil is believed to be formed by Earth core. (well actually even that far back would still be from the sun, because the center of the planet is believed to be heated up by a radioactive material, which can only be made with massive stars, which would actually be a star before the sun)
#20 to #9 - thamuz (06/03/2012) [-]
"It may be possible to make petroleum from any kind of organic matter under suitable conditions. The concentration of organic matter is not very high in the original deposits, but petroleum and natural gas evolved in places that favored retention, e.g., sealed-off porous sandstones. Petroleum, produced over millions of years by natural changes in organic materials, accumulates beneath the earth's surface in extremely large quantities."

YES! I KNOW THAT, THANK YOU CAPTAIN OBVIOUS! I am just presenting an other theory.
User avatar #10 to #9 - rainbowrush ONLINE (06/03/2012) [-]
Yup. All energy on earth comes from the sun.
#12 to #10 - realyboredguy (06/03/2012) [-]
Well not from the sun but the star before the sun.

This is either really cool trolling
or absolute failure of education...
#60 to #21 - realyboredguy (06/04/2012) [-]
Oh my God, really? I know why we call it fossil fuel, I am just presenting an other theory, which could also produce fossil fuel. You're the uneducated one, not me.
#65 to #60 - Sammael (06/04/2012) [-]
My education is excellent thank you very much.
Composition of petroleum is paraffins, naphtenes, aromatics and asphaltics.
They are ALL liquid organic molecules that are created from very specific organic compounds.
Oil is not created from the sun, or the core, its created through heated fossilization of organic matter.
On the other hand:
Methane is an organic gas main component of whats called "natrual gas", simple alkane. And while on earth its mostly found in gas fields, its also produced by marches and cattle.
And crust produces, due to heat and pressure certain amount of methane clatharate. Its produced through chemical reaction.
Now do you understand the difference between small production of methane clatharate and FREAKING OIL? Do you need me to explain basics of organic chemistry? I can. Do you need to me explain difference between natural gas and petroleum? I can too.
Please, get some basic education, some basic understanding before you start sprouting this idiocity.

Oups, natural gas. My bad. Btw, insulting you're opponent doesn't make you more right.

READ ME Seems like their was allot of retards previously calling me an idiot for saying that oil is created by the earth core. Not all of it, just a small quantity, but still. ''Yes, except for oil'''' I was saying that because a part of it is believed to be created by the earth core. So not all the oil come directly from the sun, but a large part those, and a large part is created by plants. For people saying it's not true because if that thing is proven true, we can't say we are running out of oil anymore, so they ill loose their job at the green party, well, first of all, http://www.jcrows.com/hydrocarbons.html, second of all, Titan have lakes of oil by products, and it's core is active! I don't know, but I don't think there is plants on Titan, which is cold enough at it's surface to have liquid methane (which is one o the by product I was talking about. I know it's easier to call anyone who might put your job, or your ego in danger, a moron, idiot, troll etc. Hey people will wake up and find out that all this bull, is, bull.
#40 to #9 - anon (06/03/2012) [-]
Oil is from dead plants, plants come from Tellus(Earth) So therefore, plants come from Tellus
#62 to #40 - realyboredguy (06/04/2012) [-]
Yes, but, ever heard about photosynthesis? Rainbowrush is right, all energy come from the sun or from a star preceding the sun. For my comment on it comes from the core, it's a hypothesis, because some empty oil pocket got filled up in 20 years by God knows what. So they think that is one of the possibilities. Oil is indeed made for most of it by plants, but there is other possibilities.
User avatar #13 to #9 - tomatozification (06/03/2012) [-]
not sure if troll or just stupid
#63 to #13 - realyboredguy (06/04/2012) [-]
Yes, you're right. I said plants don't create oil over million of years, even though we call oil ''fossil fuel'' like gas and coal. By saying oil might be created by the center of the earth, because allot of people think is the case, I was implying that their was NO other sources, such as bacterias, decomposing animals and plants (over millions of years).

Solar powers doesn't really 'gather light', nor can they send the light down in the shafts.. They can gather electricity for light bulbs to light up the shafts, tho'.
