You're all ******* retarded. Time travel is obviously possible

All you have to do is jump into the hatchet, when the broom falls forward onto the levi jeans, you bake the skittles into the asparagus and duck down below the mushroom. Make sure not to apple the kiwi otherwise you'll end up splitting the car show.

Clearly the problem of our failed attempt at time time is people baking the potato at 325 degrees in the washer television.

If you think about it, our entire existence and the world as we know it, might be a result of a time travel, gone wrong. Maybe, just a few seconds ago, we lived a world where dinosaurs lived, and we could travel in time as easy as we drive cars, but someone ****** up, and now, here we are, without time traveling or dinosaurs. And in the distant future, maybe we'll learn that technology, and we'll travel back in time, **** it all up, and end up right back here.

TL;DR: We're stuck in a loop of discovering time travel, and destroying it for ourselves.
User avatar #116 to #102 - certifiedidiot (06/02/2012) [-]
I don't think you can **** anything up with time travel, time is as it always was, if the person change the past majorly, it directly affects the future he exsists in, which would make it so the change never happened in the first place.
#126 to #102 - anon (06/02/2012) [-]
i think that possibly the past is happening everywhere, all the time, but we cant see it, and it cant see us, because to them we are the future and nobody can see the future. in my mind time travel isn't through a wormhole like most think, but through our own eyes, if we were able to look close enough we could see the past happening as if it was the present. if somebody could explain my theory a little better it would be much appreciated.
#135 to #102 - anon (06/02/2012) [-]
im not disagreeing with you, but i don't see how somebody going back in time could alter all that has happened already, like we wouldn't know that they went back so would we be living the same life or a different life but we know it was changed, or would we not know if somebody has changed it?
User avatar #114 to #102 - zaxzwim (06/02/2012) [-]
FACT: you can travel back in time it just involves you going faster than the speed of light because the closer you get towards the speed of light time starts slowing down and once you go faster than the speed of light it will start going backwards unfortunally resulting in a endless loop of going back in time
#118 to #114 - anon (06/02/2012) [-]
FACT: It's impossible to reach the speed of light.

Nothing with mass can reach the speed of ligh, photons, which are the particles of light, have no mass.

That makes you travel forward in time.

If you were to enter some craft that travels the speed of light (or very close to the speed of light) and fly around the Earth for a few seconds, when you land, you will be hundreds of years in the future and you'll have only aged a few seconds.

Anywho, time travels in one direction: forward.
That makes you travel forward in time.

that is ******** until someone actully does that. why would travel fast speed up the world around you or make you slow down? If there is one thing I can't agree with on about science it is that.
User avatar #80 - grieze (06/02/2012) [-]
Time travel back in time is up to date impossible however there is a theory by Stephen Hawking that if we have the technology we might travel into the future. the reason being is because if you build a train that travels at the speed of light, it will make time around you slow down while people on the outside that see you or can see you because you are moving so fast you are going around the earth 7 times per second, would see nothing but a freeze frame look of you. in other words time is like a river the faster you move the faster time goes the slower you move the slower it goes. this is the theory so far for time travelling into the future.
#83 to #80 - anon (06/02/2012) [-]
It's so sad, the past is gone.
We should just get rid of history class.
User avatar #313 to #83 - grieze (06/03/2012) [-]
you get rid of history and there will be multiple hitlers. that said if you don't learn from the past it will repeat itself. easy as that.

thank you!...finally somebody mentioned it...Timetraveling into the past, will NEVER be possible...watch some documentaries about the topic and you will be able to udnerstand why..my english is too bad to explain it..thank you grieze
#109 to #85 - anon (06/02/2012) [-]
It could be possible to travel back in time but only in specific circumstances and the person must have certain goals. For example you could not go back in time to change something that you specifically wanted to change when you went back in time. Say you wanted to kill Hitler before WWII started, if you went back in time and killed him then he would have been dead in the present day, this means you would not have needed to travel back in time and thus never killed him. However you could travel backwards in time simply to observe, as long as you didn't tell your past-self what you have learned this is at least plausible. Also if you didn't mean to get sent back in time you can do just about anything as long as it doesn't affect you being born.
User avatar #311 to #109 - grieze (06/03/2012) [-]
yeah, thats whats called a paradox situation, the most famous one being the grandfather paradox, an episode of Futurama fry has sex with his grandma thus making him his own grandfather.
User avatar #110 to #109 - tkgm (06/02/2012) [-]
Yeah that's the next thing...the logic...but it's impossible to DO...that's what I wanted to say
User avatar #111 to #85 - grieze (06/02/2012) [-]
not only that you would have to find a mass or object that won't burn up while travelling. not only that, for a train to go that fast would take quite a while to decelerate, it would take 50 years because a halt stop would cause it to well lets not go to that result. it would also require an infinite source like you said but energy can not be converted to mass. so the thing would just burn up. itll be a cosmic failure.
User avatar #113 to #111 - tkgm (06/02/2012) [-]
yeah right..and would need a machine that puts you OUT of the universe...if you want to travel back, you would have to bring every little piece of matter, to turn backwards, physical processes ect...if we go deeper and deeper into the matter, there is the quantum foam where physical laws are no longer existant and everything is random..in that "foam" something ends and then starts to exist (for example), you would have to isolate yourself from the universe, put the whole universe into that machine and make it (somehow) move backwards... ******* impossible...I watched a lot of documentaries about that topic..I ******* LOVE it xD..
User avatar #312 to #113 - grieze (06/03/2012) [-]
yeah i watched some too, the place you are talking about where no physical laws exist or take affect are in worm holes, they are known to be that because they are little patches in the universe that constantly rip and close up, if you put that in a machine if you even can, it would still fail because the in order for the worm hole to be open it needs a lot of mass, but even with that mass the worm hole will keep exponentially expanding until it can not handle itself and will lead it self to collapsing on itself.
User avatar #88 to #80 - tkgm (06/02/2012) [-]
we could also never EVER reach the speed of light...because of E=mc²...the mass of the Spaceship, train or whatever will increase with the speed so we would need an infinite power source to accelerate something with an infinite mass..and there is no such thing as an infinte power source

Time travel could becomes possible in the very distant future where man kind has either forgotten you or doesn't really care.

And everybody knows that tampering with the past will tamper with the future.
User avatar #7 to #5 - lotengo (06/02/2012) [-]
you cant tamper with the past.

Example: Lets say u build ur time machine to stop something from happening...you stop it, it doesnt happen...if it didnt happen u didnt have to build time machine...u didnt build a time machine, so it happend.

let me direct you to trunks he built a time machine to stop the androids and cure goku it did happen but it just caused an alternate dimension

making a difrent dimension or an endless loop.

What if time travel is possible but we couldn't actually alter time in an already existing universe? If I was to go back in time, there would be 2 of me, making it not the same as our current universe. Instead of changing the current universe another universe is created.
#194 to #193 - killyojoy (06/03/2012) [-]
That is my first of two theories on time travel....The second is the human race will die off before it is possible.
#204 to #193 - anon (06/03/2012) [-]
What if time travel is possible, but when you went back, you eliminated the need to go back, so you never went back, so you never changed it, so you do go back, and you get stuck in a infinite loop?

Or what if time travel was posable, but when you got there, the universe woulden't be able to handle your extra mass from the fixed amount of particals there are in existance (thats a theory) and you just vanished?

OR what if time travel is replaced by universe travel and you would go to the universe, where what you wanted to change was already changed?

OR what if time travel is only posable at a rate of one second per second foward or backward, and its taking so long for them to get hear, that they die on the journy?

ORRRRRRR what if im just an idiot just posting stupid ideas to see my words in a text box?

This has been, curious anon.

Not at all. nobody stopped you because you weren't to be stopped, if time travel exsisted and i wanted to go back in time to kill hitler and stop WWII before it happened. someone somewhere along the lines would stop me, because obviously hitler was alive and he wasn't stopped by a time traveler (or maybe he was and it was covered up).

TL:DR There Special team of time travelers that police the time waves and **** you up before you change the past
User avatar #229 to #228 - thisotherdude (06/03/2012) [-]
...In a strange way that actually does make sense.
User avatar #240 to #229 - ilcecchino ONLINE (06/03/2012) [-]
If something has already happened, then it already happened. meaning if hitler wasnt assinated time travelers... he won't be the events of the past are well... in the past, and if there was an incident in the past that a time traveler caused... well how do we know it just wasn't covered up.

Take the movie Deja vu. or whatever it's called, the guy get's sent into the past and saves the city and a girl that his past self then falls in love with... BUT at the beginning of the movie a bomb goes off and terrorists and blah blah. now with my theory if he goes back in time at the end of the movie, he should have been present at the start of the movie and saved the day (although it would not have made for a good movie, just an example)

Well there is a theory about time travel that when you travel back in time another universe is created and the changes you make effect this created universe while the future of the universe that you arrived from undergoes no changes from the effects of your time travel rendering going back in time to change something pointless. But this removes the problem of not needing to back in time since the problem is already solved as it will not be solved in your universe causing you to make the trip in the first place preventing a paradox.

What if i told you we will never achieve time travel as someone would have already come back.
#132 to #122 - anon (06/02/2012) [-]
We will never be able to create time travel to go back before we created time travel. In other words, if time travel was discovered in 2013, we couldn't go back to 2010. It is possible to create a machine that could hold a space in time that we could move back to from the future. So if I created it June 2nd, 2012, people from December 25th 2055 could go back to anytime between June 2nd 212 and December 25th 2055
