One hundred percent of all intelligent and educated Atheists know for a fact that Jesus of Nazareth existed 2000 years ago.

Except, he did exist. Son of God, born of a Virgin, turns water into wine, and walks on water? I personally don't think so. But he was a real person, just like the Buddha was a real person.

i once heard a nice quote

"religion is like a dick, its good to have one and be proud of it, but you cant just go flaunting it in public and shoving it down people's throats."

I'm not saying that everything he did actually happen. All I'm saying is that Jesus lived. He did some **** to make people feel good. That made the Romans and Jews pissed, so they killed him,

I'm atheist, and I agree. Though I don't believe how he was conceived was true, or that he was magic. I believe he was a prophet and was indeed alive. He was probably a good guy too.

Yes a very logical answer. There have been numerous prophets not long ago in the past, just look at Harold Camping and his whole May 21st thing.

lets take a look at siddhartha gautama a.k.a. the prophet of buddhism a.k.a. the only religion that is technically atheistic. he was a nice guy and last time i checked this prophet didnt kill a single person. i should also mention this prophet inspired another prophet/revolutionary who was kind of recent although still long before our time, ghandi. im pretty sure he didnt kill anyone. i should also mention if this discussion was in person and not on the internet it would probably be less hostile and you and i would probably have a beer afterwards.

Not a bad thing, I'd live for when I die that I go into an eternal lucid dreaming state and can become the god of own world... that'd be nice. Too bad it won't happen.

Okay real question, It doesn't matter what "Theist" I am or whatever.

But how did people back then assume hell was in the middle of the Earth, and Scientist later said an inferno is under the Earth's crust?

How did people back then know that?

Legit question, no ********** or butt hurts.

they didnt know the earth had a "middle" they thought that pillars held the earth up and all around it was an abyss that they called sheol I think which later translated to hell. The main reason they belived the enemy of god would be beneath them is because most deities from most cultures live in a visually advantageous position in the sky or on a mountain

Quick answer, the exact location of a hell/underworld varies between ancient mythological systems, in the Odyssey, the underworld is in fact just a long way off, in the direction of the Atlantic, in other Greek and Roman literature, it's under the ground, and I believe most mesopotamian/semitic mythologies place it as under the earth. Later Christians borrow descriptions of hell from roman descriptions of tartarus (the bad part of the classical underworld).

Just a guess, but could have observed volcanoes or similar and made the assumption, though, to be fair, not all of the ancient cultures which say hell as under the earth assumed it was hot.

I don't care if people use religious posts to get shares and likes, cause they're ultimately meaningless, like thumbs. What I do care about are televangelists, that prey on people's religious feelings for profit. That's scumbag behavior of the highest degree.
