The hoard of infected took it' s toll on us. we took out more than we of those things
and more were right on us. Brandi killed a lew with her bow before she was she
new a good so feet before landing on the ground. she didn' t get up lor the whole rest
of the time we [ended these things on.
Jess killed about 20 the whole time. one hit her square in the lace. she didn' t seem
to care much, and continued to slaughter them. I took my pistol and shot at the one
that hit her. The bullet went straight through his eye and the brain matter that was in
it' s head blew out the back of his skull.
I used my knife on a lew of them too Finally got to really put Jess' teachings to use.
Hook it and I threw it It didn' t make it very Far before lodging itself in an inductees
head. It didn' t kill him but it knocked him down. I took my pistol out and I shot him in
between the eyes.
Alex was the most impressive I think. She must' had most of the kills because
between Jess and I, we only had about 3540. And Brand killed about 5.
Alex blew through all of her rounds and started punching and kicking them.
There was something strange about the infected in the hoard. none of them were
mutated. They all were almost Lully decomposed and were Just waiting to lall over.
Jess noticed the same thing and said that she thinks it might be because the smarter
ones are staying in
The light lasted about 5 minutes before we had to run. There were so many, we
couldn' t light them all. They swarmed us from almost all sides, but we managed to
get out of there. Even the normal inductees are getting smarter. 4 months ago you
would have never seen them in this kind of way.
we think that Brandi broke a lew ribs. we wrapped her midsection up with part of my
shirt I was wearing 2 of them, but it' s not cold enough out here in califonia to worry.
she is walking slower than before, so we have to hurry if we' re going to make it to
Santa Barbara in time.
we are about 10 miles out from Santa Barbara tonight 'm sitting here on watch as
always, Just write g. I saw something I' never seen before. There was an infected
just walking. He came up on the camp and I drew my pistol.
I watched him as he walked toward the fire and sat down. He smelled awful but he
didn' t seem to want to hurt me. He looked at me every few minutes and Just stared.
Then he would look back at the fire.
I noticed he had dogtags on him and it reminded me of my dad. I started talking to
him. He didn' t talk back but he would look at me when I spoke. I told him about my
dad and how he was in the army. I told him about Captain and how my Brother died
without her knowing.
He looked at me and I swear a tear slid down his Face. It' s not possible I know, but I
know I saw it happen. He looked back down at the fire and he Just sat there. I don' t
know what' s wrong with me but I normally would shoot any infected that got that close.
He stood up alter about 20 minutes and he turned around to leave. or at least I
thought it was to leave. He grabbed at his dogtags and and broke them on, letting
them lall down to the ground next to him.
He walked away like a normal person. I picked up his dogtags and dropped them
in the sand picked them up again and the name on the tags was ‘Joseph callaway' and
I don' t know that name. I think he was Just looking lor someone to know he existed.
someone to know he was a person Just like we are.
It' s time to wake Alex up lor watch though. N
better lay down and get some sleep.
we are camped about 1 mile outside of Santa Barbara' s south side. we are w rig lor
the Resistance camp' s raid to begin. we listened to the radio again but never heard
anything about their plans. The airwaves were empty the three or Four times we
The city is a lot more restless than most of the ones we' come in contact with. There
is a lot of noise, but not good noise. we know the Resistance Damp hasn' t been here yet
because the city is still surrounded try those things.
Ijust checked the radio again and nothing think they might be on their way now,
because they wouldn' t really transmit anything while they are heading here.
All I know is that watch tonight is extremely Boring. Nothing has happened except lor
the occasional moan from way out in the distance. All I can think about is that soldi r.
He must have had a lamely. I wonder if they are alive.
Anyway, Santa Barbara is going to be crushed today.
THE NEXT ENTRY IS DATELESS
PRESUMABLY THE NEXT NIGHT
The Resistance Damp raid never came. The broadcasts have stopped completely aside
from a short broadcast saying how they were camping and were about 10 miles from
That broadcast was an hour alter my last entry.
we' re almost to LA. we can see the dim lights of the Resistance Damp. It has been
hard traveling with Brandi being hurt. she doesn' t slow us down much, but in such
close proximity to a trig city, that is all it takes.
Jess and I are on watch together tonight. we' decided that being so close to LA.
we would need some extra eyes on watch so we' re doubling up. Jess saw the
dogtags I got from Joseph. she asked me what they were and I told her what
We heard another broadcast about 20 minutes ago from a camp out in Arizona.
They are another Resistance Damp. They are looking lor more people to help
Jess and I were Just attacked. Alex and Brandi had to come out to help us.
These things weren' t infected humans. They were dogs. I didn' t know the
infection could spread into other animals.
They came at us and jumped at our throats. one bit Jess in the arm as she
blocked herself from the attack. I took my pistol and I shot that one below I
shot the one coming at me. I blew his skull apart and then more jumped Alex
and Brandi too. we killed them on one try one and we' re now Just sitting around
I don' t know ill should write about t
did. But I can' t help mysefl.
Jess wouldn' t be too happy if she lound out I
Jess and I were laying in the bed while Alex and Brandi were out on watch. we were
talking about those dogs and how friendly they would' been if they weren' t
lecter. she told me she had a dog when she was little. she loved him but he was
hit try a car in 2002. He was a gilt from her dad.
We were talking for about 20 minutes about nothing before she kissed me. I held her
head and we laid there together for a few minutes before she took her shirt off and
she told me she loved me.
