Stem cell research and cloning conflict with morals that don't necessarily have to do with religion.

ok, that graph is so full of shit. like technology would advance that quickly. Also. thanks to islamic scientists, the very basics of medical care still used today were created. medicines, not magic potions, were tried, recorded and studied. And to defend christians, when england's costs were raided by vikings, christian monks actually stores and protected hundreds of books so they wouldn't be destroyed in raids. infact, the very BASIC OF ALL SCIENCE, the scientific method, is based on an idea that works with god.

so fuck your retarded, over exaggerating, shitty graph. shut the fuck up. and deal with people's beliefs.

Nothing would advance that quickly? So the fact that in the last 100 years we have advanced more than in the past 1000 means nothing?

and you literally ignore everything else I said. that's amazing, cause that's acting like those super religious people you're trying to prove wrong.

and no, it wouldn't have likely progressed that quickly. each inventor, each idealist, each supplier to these people were perfectly set in history to assist each other in their work to create these technologies. no one could repeat what they did in a thousand years.

Without the fear of persecution how many great minds do you think have been suppressed?... Do you think that back in the day they could just post their ideas on the Web as anon? They had to fight for their ideas and that meant being caught and killed.

Uninhibited you really cannot predict what could have happened. Tomorrow i'm going to start persecuting anyone who Manufactures silicon... This should affect the development of Technology right?

no fucking way, i didn't know that at all. next you'll tell me is that atheism created so many charities, or makes you a better person, or gives meaning to life, or makes people create art.

if they didn't fully believe in their ideals, then they wouldn't have said them. many of these men were killed, their notes passed on or rediscovered and improved upon, till full correct. and yet, you STILL ignore that, without religion in the first place, there wouldn't be science the way it is today.
#582 to #576 - hobomofo (05/27/2012) [-]
I like that how you call anyone who is not a firm believer in your faith an Atheist, Like i have said in previous posts, i believe in a higher power... just not the particular one that you read from a book.

Right, because the fact that the bubonic plague was around did nothing to affect science

Thank you for refuting my comment with absolute intelligence and understanding. You have completely changed my opinion. I'm going to go be an atheist now.

I didn't ask you to be anything =) If a simple picture can troll you so hard, i applaud how strong your convictions are to your religion. If you deny the fact that religion has never gotten in the way of science then i really think you may want to hop on over to college or maybe invest in a some type of Encyclopaedia and look into society and science. If religion has never persecuted a great mind for knowledge, i will post pictures up of my girlfriend naked.

You should do that anyways, and I was referring to the anons brilliant rebuttal to my statement. And while religion has persecuted great minds, even if religion wasn't around disease, unsanitary conditions, and life expectancy would make scientific advancement difficult.
#556 to #551 - hobomofo (05/27/2012) [-]
There has been many great times in history that great minds have been executed by the church for believes that proved god could not exist, or that did not fit into their model. If we had a LHC 500 years ago, where would be today?
