No, it's not about playing hard to get either. There's just no excitement in knowing that a guy would do EVERYTHING to please me, and with a rougher and more relaxed guy I can have a good laugh AND he's nice to me too. You've just got to get the balance right.

Yes, and while your strategy sounds smart, I don't think you should start bonding by being mushy, nor should you make a move like that. Just be completely natural maybe with just a hint of extra politeness and compliments. The most unattractive thing I've ever encountered was trying to jump straight into something serious with skipping the friendship part.

It's about cockiness, laughter, money, and fun for most of their likings
it's about having something to show off to her friends
it's sad actually, college is full of douches with girlfriends who cry when they know he's cheating, why they won't leave him is beyond me

I find "nice guys" is a bit redundant when they're calling a girl a bitch and a slut for liking the more rebellious cocky "douche" character. I've had crushes on mean girls, and dated a bitchy girl who I deep down knew was cheating on me but took me a while to finish it (took a lot0. Happens to everyone. But I think the whole "Everyone is different be yourself" crap is pretty relevant. Also if the girl just goes for douches, move on and suck it up? Because who's the more foolish? The Fool, or the fool that follows her. Anyway, that's my two cents.

I was working on a little experiment now bear with me
I tell women I'm gay automatically and they might take it as a challenge and sleep with me, then say "haha I made you straight" and I'll be like "yeah totally, you got me"

Yeah actually. Coming from a chick, that's a pretty attractive scenario from our perspective. the only thing that could go wrong is if she starts to think of you as a nonoption and not make a move.
