While I was reading this my cat was rubbing against my arm. I looked over and said "I love you, Loki". He got up and walked out of the room.

i have a special friendship with my cat also. He is two years younger than me, making him 17 years old, and he's been there my entire life. He is huge, 30lbs, and has a high pitched meow like he's still a normal-sized kitten.

Last month I felt a lump when I was petting him. It was barely noticeable. But now it's larger than a golf ball- almost the size of a tennis ball. More lumps have formed all around his body, and god knows how many are there that we don't know about.

My cat is doomed, and I love him so much. All I can do is give him as much attention as I can muster, which will only make me cry more when he passes. This cat has literally always been there fore me, since I could talk.

I make myself feel better by keeping in mind that my cat is super happy, and has been making my family smile for so long that he deserves his rest. Get a new kitten OP. It will never replace your old cat, but it isn't meant to. Getting a kitten is like making a tribute to your old cat. It's your mission to make it feel just as loved and awesome as your last cat felt, and it will always love you back for it.

I hope you feel better OP.

If my pet that I cared a lot about just died, the idea of posting it on Funnyjunk would be completely irrational.

I had some epic feels there.
My parents got a cat before I was born, when I was a baby he'd look after me, when I was old enough to go to school but had no friends, he was there for me.
He was my only friend for 13 years of my life, then he died at the age of 18. He'd had a stroke, just after he had the stroke I called out to him from the other side of the room and he got up, hobbling towards me, every 2-3 steps he'd fall over then get back up again and he repeated that until he got to me and he fell asleep on my lap. My parents had to put him to sleep the next day so he was out of pain. But to think that he went through so much just to be close to me for the last time.

Five years on and I still cry about it, but it's happy tears now.
