This is based on an actual radio conversation between a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier (U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln) and Canadian authorities off the coast of Newfoundland in October, 1995

Canadians: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the South to avoid collision.
Americans: Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the North to avoid a collision.
Canadians: Negative. You will have to divert your course 15 degrees to the South to avoid a collision.
Americans: This is the Captain of a US Navy ship. I say again, divert YOUR course.
Canadians: No, I say again, you divert YOUR course.
Americans: THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER USS LINCOLN, THE SECOND LARGEST SHIP IN THE UNITED STATES' ATLANTIC FLEET. WE ARE ACCOMPANIED BY THREE DESTROYERS, THREE CRUISERS AND NUMEROUS SUPPORT VESSELS. I DEMAND THAT YOU CHANGE YOUR COURSE 15 DEGREES NORTH--I SAY AGAIN, THAT'S ONE FIVE DEGREES NORTH--OR COUNTER-MEASURES WILL BE UNDERTAKEN TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THIS SHIP.
Canadians: This is a lighthouse. Your call.

All of the branches of the military use planes, they all have ground forces, and they all use ships. The Marines actually have designated planes and ships just for them.

The Navy has more planes than the air force. The blue angels are an elite squadron of NAVY fighter pilots. Seals stands for "Sea, Air and Land, and operates on all 5 terrestrial forms of terrain (sea, air, land, under water and airspace over water, each having unique challenges).

The air force has other forms of aviation equipment, particularly in the fields of unmanned aircraft, that they are progressing towards putting more focus on.

As a merchant marine, I am not in the military. There was a time where my commission would be equivalent to that of one in the Navy, nowadays they use us as contractors at times. Military Sealift Command works for the Navy.
The officer training program I am going through is Military LIKE, and I believe qualifies me to proceed to a direct commissioning further on... and I could Dcomm into the coast guard upon commission here...

but I began officer training in August of 2010.
My brother is a naval enlistee as of March 2009.

Bull. As terrible as war is, it still creates friends among it's participants. About 5 or 6 years ago me and my family welcomed a British soldier who served with my brother to our Christmas celebration. He has been a good family friend for years and always makes a point to visit us for a few hours when he's in the States. a good argument isn't a comment that is in the favor of a group of people.

a good argument is based on facts. in which people will more likely accept your point of views

the only reason you are scared for red thumbs is because you know your argument isn't made out of facts instead it's made out of
"ignorance for other people's views/facts"

sorry for all my spelling/grammar mistakes.

I like thumbs. Deal with it.
I like getting content that people deem enjoyable.

I'm also not on funnyjunk to argue.
I doubt anybody here is out to change their point of view; I know you won't change your opinion, but you expect me to change mine.
>don't claim that this is not a fact. No matter what I say, you will remain firm in your opinion.

The reason I believe we would BOTH be thumbed down is that many people will disagree with our views, while others will agree with them, but both probably agree that FUNNY JUNK is not a place for a political debate!

Can you just give 1 argument to this question

"So what you're saying is, Iraq and surrounding countries threatened USA first? "

also if you don't want to argue on funnyjunk stop making statement's in a argument posts
also i have changed my point of view in many discussions with users
it's just immature to expect that from somebody else just because "you" don't want to change your point of views

also for a user since 2011 it's kinda pathetic to crave for virtual green pixels

Tl;dr;

There was an attack made on US soil against civilians
We responded, as well as decided to secure our own interests.

Past actions/interactions with the Mujahideen aside, the 9/11 attack was completely unnecessary and unwanted. There's your one answer.

Personally, we have bigger issues to worry about back at home, and should be focusing on them more. But I am still patriotic and will support my nation if the order to go to war is issued.

you are disproving your own facts now
you say mujaheddin did 9/11
however Iraq never where involved in it.
most mujaheddin came from Afghanistan
but what about Iraq?

also America never attacked Iraq because of there so called "terrorist act's"
for i know when they invaded Iraq they weren't looking for any Al-Queida cells.
also when you say something like "Are we securing other interests abroad?"
they never did ask for help it's almost 10 years since the invasion of Iraq
and Iraq is still a unstable country, so a good job on that one

I referenced the Mujihadeen as they were associated with US activity the last time we were in the middle east. Not because they are responsible for anything recent.

I am WELL AWARE that a vast majority of terrorist activity, and the individuals we are looking for are most certainly elsewhere.

what we are essentially doing is occupying another country because it is in OUR best interests, whether or not it is in theirs, but we're bigger than them so they can suck it. That is world politics at it's finest, whether you like it or not.

It is not my decision to make as to my country's involvement in this war, and as a citizen I would fight and die for the well being of my country, as it is my home and the home of my family.

you know in the beginning of this "argument" you said something as people wouldn't change there point of views.
you just did
i thought you where justifying the things they do
instead you are just thinking about your crumb of bread [of the bakery the government steals]
in my eyes there isn't anything wrong with your "share"
i am now [after your comment] aware that the problem doesn't lie on the people i argue with as they just hope for a better "live"

correct me if my views on you are wrong

I like what thumbs represent. not the sprite the site uses. You want to have an adult conversation, let us actually remove pettiness from it. The "argumentative post" to which you refer is one wherein I jokingly referenced the fact that someone compared the situation to an adult beating on a midget. I expanded the idea, saying it was a rich influential midget with many midget friends.

I did not make a serious post of any sort.
This is an "argument thread" because you are making it one.

The countries themselves did not threaten us, but radicalist militant factions did. You cannot deny the existence of sects like Al-Queida, who do believe in the destruction of all "non-believers" and desire the collapse of western civilization was we know it. They were burning our flag before we invaded. Terrorist attacks have been responsible for loss of American life.

Are we securing other interests abroad? HELL YEAH WE ARE. but I see no comments about how unfair the treaty of Versailles was to post WWI Germany...

to the victor goes the spoils. One day (possibly even soon) another country will come by and topple us. History goes into books, and life goes on. In the world we are in, we are on top, and are struggling to stay there with the rise of other world powers. If you don't like the way the world had worked since the dawn of time, get off this planet.

Have you ever heard of a country called Israel? The actual size of a country does not matter.
