Y'know what? I don't give a **** about these red thumbs. I am sick and tired of these moronic religious and anti-religious posts that are clogging up the front page like malignant tumors.

Ok, to begin with, I AM AN ATHEIST. (Because, on Funnyjunk, one HAS to assert ones identity, lest one's views be considered EVIL and TERRIBLE because they disagree with the majority. But we're all oh so up for freedom of speech and expression.) But these anti religious posts are, to be brutally honest, utterly and completely retarded. They present themselves as being self evident truth, and yet they are so palpably not. They are based on arbitrary prejudice and ignorance. Most of the people agreeing have no ******* clue about religion, they just "know" that it is bad "cuz sum big academics sed so."

The irony of the situation is that these academics, such as Richard Dawkins, advocate fee thinking, and yet so many people blindly swallow whatever anti-religious opinion they come up with next, without any critical thought whatsoever. You sit there and carp on about freedom of speech, and the benefits of reason, then go into fundamentalist battle mode as soon as something you disagree with comes up.

Funnyjunk has essentially become a place where people go to lap each other on the back for agreeing with them. "Oh, so you're an antitheist too, well done, you must be completely right about everything. Oh what's that, you never put any thought into your position, and you don't think critically about it? I don't care, because you agree with me. Lol Funnyjunk forever."

TL;DR **** you.

Hatches down, sights closed, braced for red thumbs.

What you say is true, but the way I see it, this content was made completely as a joke. It's FUNNYjunk, not ARGUE-OVER-RELIGIONjunk. This whole load of crap stems from the comment section

You do have a point, I just find that such content is not presented as a joke, but as a genuine statement of belief. More often than not, the content is strongly coloured by the context into which it was placed; since people seem to treat this is "argue-over-religion-junk," any content of this kind comes across as being a genuine statement, rather than a joke. If people were more up for viewing it as a joke, then the context wouldn't pervade the content so much.

I know what you mean, I'm an Atheist and I don't think people who believe in god are dumb, in fact, I think the bible had plenty of good teachings, I just don't take it literally or live my life based around an outdated book. You can be an Atheist without being a dick to people who aren't, I wish people would understand that
