So what? Be offended. Nothing happens. You're an adult: grow up, deal with it. "I want to live in a democracy but I never want to be offended again!" Well, you're an idiot. How do you make a law about offending people? Being offended is subjective. What offends me may not offend you - and you wanna make laws about this? I'm offended when I see boybands, for God's sake. - Steve Hughes

It communicates the fact that you are displeased with what has just been said, and forms an unspoken social agreement not to say something like it again unless you intend to upset or offend the person.

Guy 1: "Why don't you just ask her out, man? You're such a pussy."
Guy 2: "Hey, I'm kind of offended by that."
Guy 1: "Oh, okay... You wanna play basketball after school today?"

Guy 1 has learned through Guy 2's communication that calling him a "pussy" is something that Guy 2 finds offensive, and he won't do it again, unless he intends to offend Guy 2.

Most of the time when people say "Hey! Thats offensive!" its because they overheard your conversation. People will say that and expect all conversation to stop because they are offended. Friends usually dont say that to each other as they know the other one is just ******* with them.

What happens when he gets offended? Does he get some sort of rare strain of disease next? Honestly, there's no problem with offending someone. Often "That's offensive" is used to try to shy away from so many things that should be said. Such as legalization of gay marriage. People get offended, so it's often avoided. It shouldn't be avoided, and needs to be pushed, even if people are offended by it. My example is very relevant because the man being quoted is gay, and during his younger years was rejected by churches because of it. He is now atheist, and pushes for equal rights for gays, and people call him offensive.

Before there was a five word minimum for descriptions most people put more than five anyway, while a few put under or none. Now that there is a requirement almost every post bitches about how it is such a hardship to write five words, when they often did it anyway or spent hours working on content and it takes ten seconds to write five words. I just don't understand why so many people give a **** about this...

tl;dr? Stop bitching about five word description requirement.

what a ******* idiot. i can DEMONSTRATE that God is real:

1) it is possible for God to exist 2) therefore God exists in a possible world 3) if he exists in a possible world, he exists in the real world. 4) therefore God exists

sorry but you are the troll here. if the premises are correct then the conclusion follows logically and inescapably

The problem is the premises are incorrect. You have used two logical facilities in your posts thus far. You committed an affirmation of the consequent (ex. if A then B, B then A) and in the second comment you create a straw man (using a new argument with the intent of misrepresenting my position).

1. God is, by definition, the greatest possible being (GPB)

2. It is at least possible for God to exist in reality.

3. If something exists only in the mind, but is possible, then that something might have been greater than it is. For example, a majestic mountain that exists only in the mind (a nonexistent, imaginary mountain) might have been greater: the mountain existing both in the mind and in reality.

4. Supposing that God is imaginary and does not exist in reality leads to the possibility of a being that is greater than him (namely God existing both in the mind and in reality).

5. So according to the supposition in #4, it is possible for something to have been greater than God.

6. However, because God is GPB, the supposition in #4 necessarily leads to the notion (n) that something could be greater than GPB.

Conclusion: The notion (n) in statement #6 is absurd -- it self-contradictory and therefore necessarily false. Because (n) must necessarily be false, the supposition that inescapably leads to (n), in #4, must also necessarily be false.

Therefore, the conclusion that God must necessarily exist in reality as well as in the mind (the negation of the inescapably false supposition in #4) must necessarily be true.

This argument is airtight, irrefutable, and foolproof, and it proves God's factual existence conclusively.

I don't even know what I should start with. To save all of us some time here is a link to a list of logical fallacies. (You committed many of these)
