You were trying to learn firebending weren't you
User avatar #317 to #156 - chosenonex (05/07/2012) [-]
haha actually no because i took it up before ATLA even came out. And i didn't even know that firebending was based off of it until after the series ended.

another fun fact:
you had to put on new pants after this episode.

I really wish blood bending was bigger then it was. i mean Hama said you needed a full moon to do it but then Katara did it without a full moon in the southern raiders episode. Imagine if that kind of power was taught to the avatar. Avatar state blood bending... what do?
Also the stipulation of Korra being allowed to probend so long as she only uses water bending. Blood bending is a sub element of water bending. If she knew blood bending would that be forbidden?
#74 to #48 - John Cena (05/07/2012) [-]
Plus blood bending must be done during a full moon. And Katara seemed like she resented blood bending, I don't think she taught Korra it.
#159 to #48 - John Cena (05/07/2012) [-]
What I love about the blood bending is the fact that if you would be able to do blood bending on someone to make them move that would mean that you would be able to use someone else blood outside of their body has a weapon.
#166 to #159 - John Cena (05/07/2012) [-]
Oh and if my theory is right, a waterbender can only use bloodbending when full moon because of the limited knowledge of the human body and also the power of the bender, they are only powered up by the moon. The only explanation to why Katara was able to use bloodbending so easily the next time was probably because she is a proficient waterbender healer. So if lets say a doctor in the korra generation was a waterbender with an extreme knowledge in the human body and also an extremly powerful waterbender he/she would probably be able to use bloodbending without a full moon.

Think about the possible techniques!!! = Boiling a human! Internal organs!! Slicing someone inside out! Just destroy an artery! A ******* ZOMBIE ARMY!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Advanced healing techniques!!!
User avatar #313 to #169 - anotherjoenobody (05/07/2012) [-]
note that they never heal the crotch.
that's for the "advanced healers" .
User avatar #314 to #166 - chosenonex (05/07/2012) [-]
Well i never thought it was because katara was a healer.. I thought it would be because she was just so angry that her rage made her more powerful. Kind of like aang in the avatar state.. He was so full of rage when appa was stolen it triggered the avatar state and made him more powerful... Katara was so angry she became strong enough to blood bend without the full moon.
User avatar #161 to #48 - cfeuer (05/07/2012) [-]
i believe blood bending would be prohibited in probending.
though it hasnt been said, i speculate that lightning and metal bending are also not allowed, seeing as mako was able to use lightning when he was trying to raise money.
User avatar #157 to #48 - daj (05/07/2012) [-]
It was a full moon when katara blood-bended in the southern raiders episode
User avatar #107 to #48 - icytime (05/07/2012) [-]
It'd be banned because earth can't do metal bending.
User avatar #65 to #48 - commontroll (05/07/2012) [-]
Probably. Even ice and vapor bending is forbidden in probending.

Shouldn't their be more Airbenders in hiding before the war ended? Think about it, almost all the Monks in the Air Temple were male. I'm sure there were just as many female Airbenders but following monk customs, weren't allowed in the temples. So when the Fire Nation went to wipe out the Air Nomads they would have killed off all the MALE Airbenders. As for the females, they would of course hide the fact they could bend so they wouldn't be killed.
User avatar #218 to #215 - jordanish (05/07/2012) [-]
No, Aang's teacher and the head monks were men but there were Air Nomad women (Avatar Yangchen, the one who was in charge of the sky bison stables etc.)
User avatar #221 to #218 - hentaisweetie (05/07/2012) [-]
She wasn't in charge of the sky bison, that was just another woman who looked like her. Remember the lady you're talking about was there when Aang got Appa. 2 Avatars at the same time?
And I did say "most" I noticed her and maybe 2-3 others but you've got to admit over 90% of them were male.
User avatar #222 to #221 - jordanish (05/07/2012) [-]
I'm listing two different people, not the same one and we're shown about 10 monks so your sampling data isn't very accurate
#229 to #222 - John Cena (05/07/2012) [-]
Actually, I'm pretty certain that the male and female airbenders were split amongst the different Air Temples. The north and south were exclusively male and the east and west were female. The Fire Nation probably attacked all of them at once the first time Sozin's Comet came around and wiped them out.
User avatar #238 to #229 - yunablade (05/07/2012) [-]
I agree with you, both women and men had separate temples (even if that makes raising the children... dificult, so to speak)

But I hardly believe firebenders were able to exterminate every single one of them. There had to be at least a handfull of survivors considering their large number. Is not like ALL airbenders were at the temples that exact date, there had to be some travelling or living on different areas.

Also consider that not every child born in the air tribe had to be an air bender, they could have no bending skills themselves (thus, they wouln't live ont he air temples) but they could have children that had air bending skills.

Even 100 years would not suffice to find every single one fo them
User avatar #370 to #238 - hentaisweetie (05/07/2012) [-]
Also there was an odd age gap in the Air nomads. Just kids Aangs age or younger and old men. Teens-50s people weren't there. I'm guessing once the kids mastered Airbending around the time they were in their early teens they go off living lives elsewhere while the elders stay to teach the children.
User avatar #321 to #238 - anotherjoenobody (05/07/2012) [-]
well the fire nation gathered a large amount of resources, superior war tactics, and under Sozin's Comet would have had a crazy amount of power.

they could have sent hunters/assassins after any remaining airbenders before hand to overpower and kill them on the day of the comet. meanwhile all military force would have focused on the air nations alone, without water or earth interference.

but that's just my own theory.

Actually, as I've noticed, several aspects of Korra are based on opposite ideas from the first show.

For example:

The devaluation of bending: Tenzin reflects on this when he states out that pro-bending is a mockery of the ability. In Korra, you have a world where bending is much more commonplace than in The Last Airbender. The evolving technology puts bending at this sort of "practical usage" level where although it is a great power, it appears somewhat out of place or outdated.

The "future" technology: OP already said enough about it up there. The advanced technological setting makes bending look underwhelming and impractical, whereas in TLA, villages and towns were based on and functioned entirely around bending.

Amon and the Equalists: In TLA, you had Aang and company rising up from the bottom to fight against the tyrannical government/establishment of the Fire Nation. Now with Amon and the Equalists, you have a villainous underdog who is rising up against the perceived "good" government/establishment that is mast-headed by Korra and benders.

And I could go I could talk about Aang vs Korra, but that's all pretty obvious stuff.

Them writers be cookin' up some good stuff, mhm.

Too slow paced for me. I haven't watched any games where the player has been in a lot of action.

I don't doubt it will have a large fan base, it already does. I just dislike it.

If you'd like to share a good match with me I'll watch it though.

Something I would like to know: In the failed movie attempt of The Last Airbender, firebenders could only bend when fire was present and they freaked when Hiro(I think it's spelled right) bended without fire present. I may be wrong but in the show, they could shoot fire from their hands directly, no source of fire around them. Am I just not remembering right or did they change that when it came to the movie?
User avatar #61 to #57 - soulthename (05/07/2012) [-]
Here is my theory over bending. you can not create the element you can only manipulate it with water, earth and air style there element is always present for fire I believe they increase the rate of friction they make with there body so it makes fire

Yeah, they create it themselves in the show. It's the energy from their breath, becoming fire.

Actually Jet Hookshot and Smellerbee are killed offscreen. Hookshot tells them to leave (the first thing he says) and then notches an arrow and they are never seen again.
Sokka hits combustion man with his boomerang, he explodes with his metal limbs flying off into the canyon next to the temple.
#374 to #213 - trollins (05/07/2012) [-]
Smellerbee and Hookshot never died, they're in the last episode in the celebration. And Hookshot didn't finish him off, they just wanted the group to leave to finish their mission.

At least I think that's what happened.
