I know three of the above games. But seriously... who gives a **** if you are a "real" gamer? The most important thing isn't to be a pro or knowing every video game scince the dawn of time... it's about fun.

No, it's not only about the fun...

How about paying a little respect to this hobby and actually learning how games like gta or whatever came to be?

Furthermore, what you're saying is somewhere along the lines of "forget all those old movies and books, the modern ones are where its at)

No. Just, no.

I think what he's trying to say is that he's just a casual gamer and for him,and many others, the whole point of playing games is to get some enjoyment from them. So be gentle

That, for me, sounds like "I want to watch Kill Bill or Pulp Fiction for the harsh words and gore, **** yeah"

The point of good games is to send a message across, or transmit a certain feel, provide the player a experience he/she will remember for a lifetime

And I can have no respect for a superficial person who is all like "oooo, shiny!"

I know the feel I love games for their stories and the experience they give me and hey fun gameplay isn't exactly a downside but others may not feel the same and for them it's much more about gameplay than the deeper story. I used to get in countless arguments with people over this **** but eventually I just decided 'live and let live' because I got nowhere

I recognize like 90% of these but can only name about 5-10...

Pic related, my brain when all of these games.

**** can only name about 5, all I did was play marrior games till i was like 12, this is ********

You know i started playing games in around the late 90s and that was mostly like the SNES and the N64 and the good old PS1. most of the games posted were pc games from the 90s that i had no clue about till i got old (like now) cuz when i started gaming i was 9. so really all that up there is for gamers who were like in there teens at the time
User avatar #36 to #34 - tkfourtwoone ONLINE (05/06/2012) [-]
Well, that's why I pity the American gamers from that time (I do believe SNES and N64 or PS1 were mostly used in the US, Europe I think was more PC-based)
And "for gamers who were in their teens"... believe it or not, I was ~5 years old when I played DOOM or Duke Nukem 3D, and about 6-7 when I finished Monkey Island 3 AND reigned supreme in Transport Tycoon

I should be ashamed... the only one I could identify was Daggerfall.

Check the comments section below (oh god, I feel just like RWJ...), I listed all the games... and they should ALL be played
#10 - sebiman (05/05/2012) [-]
well I know 13 of them. I´am 15 and my parents are antigamers so i played since i was like 10 years old. So I think that´s a pretty good score.

Is that ******* Syberia I see? God I haven't played that game in forever
Though I do remember playing Abe for hours on end and laughing my ass off the whole time
User avatar #20 to #2 - tkfourtwoone ONLINE (05/06/2012) [-]
Thank you for recognizing Syberia... you should also try The Longest Journey, if you hadn't

So, even after the thousands of hours I've dedicated to a select few games, I'm not a gamer?

Command and Conquer ftw

I will thumb up all the content of the first person to reply to this who can name more than 25. I want to play some of those games, so you'd be doing me a big favour.
User avatar #16 to #5 - tkfourtwoone ONLINE (05/06/2012) [-]
OP here, unfortunately, just as I thought, the console fanboys are dominant on this site, otherwise I can't explain the thumb result

Anyway, here you go:
The Longest Journey
SimCity 3000
Serious Sam: The First Encounter
Delta Force (probably the first realistic military FPS that was a big hit, especially in MP *do I hear anything, CoDfags?*)
Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight
Commandos (I don't really expect any console gamer to be able to finish even the first mission)
MDK (1&2)
Day of the Tentacle
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Dungeon Keeper 2

User avatar #17 to #5 - tkfourtwoone ONLINE (05/06/2012) [-]

Panzer General 2 (again, I don't have any expectations from kids whos hands are glued to the gamepad)
Battlezone 2 (Battlezone I think was the first FPS with RTS elements, where you could give building orders and hop into vehicles)
Monkey Island 1
Blood 2: The Chosen
Heretic 2
Caesar 3 (MUST PLAY)
Descent 2 (Descent 1, that came out in ************* 1995!!! featured complete 3D levels and gameplay... way ahead of its time, from my point of view)
Duke Nukem 3D (another MUST PLAY)
Dune 2 (I would have posted Emperor: Battle for Dune, though, much more enjoyable)
Heroes of Might & Magic 3 (anyone who didn't recognize it and doesn't know it deserves to rot away in the Mojave desert while vultures are pecking out his eyes(
Hexen 2
Carmageddon (Carma 2 was also very good)
UFO: Enemy Unknown/ X-COM: UFO Defense (it was ranked #1 best video game of all time by IGN in 2000, 2007 and 2009... and the game came out in 1994!)
Transport Tycoon (oh God... the memories... such beautiful memories...)
Evolva (granted, not really that legenday, but still a game to be remembered)
Myth 2: Soulblighter (Myth 1 was the first 3D in RTS, again, another huge achievement for its time.... and even now is still a badass strategy game, pretty hardcore, too)
Outcast (once again, MUST PLAY)
Outlaws (good old LucasArts, it gave us the Wild West FPS that remained an icon until Call of Juarez came)
User avatar #18 to #5 - tkfourtwoone ONLINE (05/06/2012) [-]

System Shock 2 (Bioshock's spiritual father... came out before the first Deus Ex and it was truly kick ass)
Red Alert 2
Soldier of Fortune (the first FPS that had the guts *pun intended* to show what actually happened if you shot a person's abdomen, arm, leg or head with a shotgun from 2 meters... it was know mostly for its realistic gore)
Thief: The Dark Project (the epitome of sneaking games, along with its sequels)
Planescape: Torment (which I'm sure that all the hardcore RPG fans that consider Fallout 3, Oblivion and Skyrim to be such hardcore games will disconsider completely)
Worms: Armageddon ( ************* WORMS, MAN! Who the **** thumbed this content down anyway?)
X-Wing vs TIE Fighter (back when LucasArts actually made games that implied using the brain... and awesome space flight and fight simulator)
Prince of Persia (the first ever PoP!)
Abe's Oddysee (which, unsuprising, was most recognized... probably because it also had a huge success on consoles as well)

There you go, 40 games that, IMO, should be a part of your video game library if you want to know why the industry today treats the client worse than like a piece of utter ****

THANKYOU!! If it's any consolation, at least you've inspired me to play some of these games. You should try re-upload this at some point btw, I'm surprised it flopped.
