Contradictory statements! "Have you realised no one posts religious post" and "and if they do they gut thumbed down to oblivion..." contradict each other!

And for the record, your last two sentences are precisely what many people with religion do, not just atheists.

damn you really went back for this one haha, and i said no one because i havent seen one before, but just in case one has been made, I assume it was thumbed down to oblivion because I have not seen one on the front page before.

and yes I agreee with that but I was talking about recent atheist post on FJ not culture as a whole.

The problem lies at the fact that most people visiting FJ are from the US. US has had a reputation(and still does) of discriminating against atheist. They make up a small percentage of the population. Hence the amount of atheist advocating logic and reason on the internet since most are unable to freely express themselves in real life. We see politicians, influential people among large organizations with power spreading misinformation about atheism.

so...thats the reason behind it. Though many fail to realize that by doing so, they are unintentionally seeing as hypocrites who spam their non beliefs to the point that it pisses off everyone on the internet.

I'm an atheist and fortunate to live in canada where no one really gives a **** . I've grown tired of seeing anti religious post on FJ.

I live in the US and have not ONCE seen discrimination against atheism. EVER. And I grew up in a Catholic family, went to Catholic grade schools, and am attending a Catholic high school. I myself am not really Catholic, but I've seen both ends of the stick, and I can tell you that if there is any discrimination then it's not very effective. And, atheists do not make up that small of our population. I know plenty, even though I attend a Catholic high school. But thank you for not discriminating against religion. People are pissy about it where I live, but there's no legitimate discrimination.

Now yes, both sides have their share of discrimination. however, in real life one is more common and acceptable than the other, which is an unfortunate fact. On the internet though, you may actually think otherwise due to the amount of atheism and anti-religious posts seeing across the net.

I lived in the US for 7 years(new jersey and florida), and i've had my share of bad experiences. statistics show 80% of the US population are christians. and yes, atheist population may be bigger than recorded since most are not willing to freely admit it, and until that happens, we wont ever know the real number.

I'm curious where you got that statistic. Mind sharing? I'd hate to know that you're that guy who pulls ******** stats out of his ass.

I never said no to a healthy religious debate, dont generalize atheists into a specific "race" we are induviduals, not a united league of moral or opinions.

We talk for ourself, and you make me sound like a twelve year old when you talk about atheists in that fashion, many are reasonable chaps.
#377 to #374 - stlbecker (05/03/2012) [-]
i was over-exaggerating how atheists sound

and yes atheist are capable of being great men, i was more talking to the atheist who feel they need the exert their "superiority" on others by postings anti-religion posts

You are right that the amount of anti religion posts seems to be on everyday, personally I love to see that the fj community gets so interested in it, though many of the pictures are unfunny.
