This is how I view it: When a "Soul" Has left the body/brain, that means the brain has officially shutdown, that's when the person has "Gone into the light" and therefore can not be brought back, cause the brain has then gone dead and shutdown. And when something is dead it obviously cant be brought back. "But what about when people just use the paddles to bring a person back, huh!?!?" Well their brain has not fully shutdown, its been said that when people believe they have died and they see the light and their passed family members, the brain is just releasing chemicals to help them not freak out when they are dying. I mean hell if I knew I was dying Id like some comfort too. I think we'd all like that... But that's my view on this subject. I may be wrong, or right,..

you don't need your brain to be alive you need the brain stem. 1. 2, your heart still beats even after the brain has totally shut down, it doesn't need the brain to function.

Brain stem is still a part of the brain, if Im not mistaken?

not really just contains the basic auto functions, like the key isn't a part of the car it is just a way to start it, other than blinking and breathing it is basically there to hold the brain, and pass signals.

Sweet mother of ******* jesus how do you breathe?
The brain stem processes most information and sure, part of the brainstem processes the nervous control of the respiratory system. However, reflexes do not keep you alive. By your logic all you need is a spinal cord as most functions are 'processed' through the spinal cord and then delivered through your brain stem and finally into regions which ACTUALLY do anything in terms of non-reflexive response, which is important for EVERY single bodily function. Including breathing and your heart beats.
Also, if the brain shuts down your heart has a temporary beat inbuilt within it. However, that beat stops entirely if the heart receives no impulse from the brain, and is only there to prevent your heart from stopping if you go into shock or so forth. Ie, you're ******* retarded.

*cough*In vertebrate anatomy the brainstem (or brain stem) is the posterior part of the brain, adjoining and structurally continuous with the spinal cord. The brain stem provides the main motor and sensory innervation to the face and neck via the cranial nerves. Though small, this is an extremely important part of the brain as the nerve connections of the motor and sensory systems from the main part of the brain to the rest of the body pass through the brain stem. This includes the corticospinal tract (motor), the posterior column-medial lemniscus pathway (fine touch, vibration sensation and proprioception) and the spinothalamic tract (pain, temperature, itch and crude touch). The brain stem also plays an important role in the regulation of cardiac and respiratory function. It also regulates the central nervous system, and is pivotal in maintaining consciousness and regulating the sleep cycle.*cough*
