Obviously, you're all atheist. Enough said. Study what Christians believe and what Catholics believe, and then come back to me. K, thanks...

I'm a Catholic here, and your argument is dumb as **** . Christians were split by the Great Schism into many groups, the main ones being Catholic and Protestant. Go buy a Philosophy and Ethics book you 'tard.

Dude, stfu. The river of stupid pouring from your keyboard is making us all feel very ashamed of being the same species as you.

I think you are trying to say Protestants and Catholics, which are one of the two main forms of Christianity, hence both are Christian.

The main difference between some Protestants and Catholics is that Catholics worship Mother Mary and the Saints while some Protestants don't.

Is there a problem with being an Atheist?
User avatar #48 to #47 - xlovingxhatredx (04/29/2012) [-]
No, I'm just saying that obviously none of you ever studied or cared to study what catholics believe and what christians believe. i was christian once, we studied catholocism so that we would know the difference, and now I'm an atheist.
User avatar #50 to #48 - deathzor (04/29/2012) [-]
I personally haven't studied christianity because it doesn't interest me. I don't believe in any deities and I never have, so what's the point? I used to be quite the asshole though....I gotta say. Oh well. Someone has faith, that's cool with me, keep it to yourself.

Catholicism is just one of the many flavors Christianity comes in. Catholics are Christian but not all Christians are catholic; I understand the differences. The point is that it's a joke, it's satire. It's not meant to be taken seriously. People don't come to funnjunk to be lectured.
#34 to #4 - parcorninja (04/29/2012) [-]
Wait.....isn't the point of satire to make someone look bad in the face of the people for sole purpose of their improvment? If so that isn't satire, it's a pun

Catholicism is not Christianity. They are separate in belief and are not considered Christian.

User avatar #8 to #7 - musicmantrice (04/29/2012) [-]
No? Are you? Protestant Christianity was formed on a breaking from the Catholic church. I suggest you don't argue with me about this because I can promise you I know the subject better considering I doubt you are actually a Christian yourself. Christians have different beliefs from Catholics and most do not see them as real Christians.
#9 to #8 - anonymous (04/29/2012) [-]
Well because Catholics believe in the divinity of Jesus, I'm gonna out on a limb and say they are Christian. Pretty mindblowing isn't it?

User avatar #10 to #9 - musicmantrice (04/29/2012) [-]
They believe that the only one who can speak to the Lord is the Pope. Wrong by Christian standards. They believe that sins are only forgiven through confession. Wrong by Christian standards. They believe that you can only be considered "clean" through the use of holy water. Wrong by Christian standards. Finally they believe that the papacy has more divine right. They believe that there were Saints who were closer to the Lord than others. They may believe in God, but that doesn't make them the same as Christians. Go study Martin Luther, there is a reason that there is Protestantism and Catholicism. It isn't the same belief.
#11 to #10 - anonymous (04/29/2012) [-]
They are variations of the same belief, dumbass. Calvinists believe in pre-destination, does that not make them not Christian either?

You are confusing Christian with Protestant. Protestants and Catholics are types of Christians. Is that really that hard to understand? A Christian is just one who follows the teachings of Jesus Christ, how they interpret it is another story. Protestants think they are following the teachings of Jesus, and Catholics also think they are following the teachings of Jesus, thus they are both Christians.

User avatar #12 to #11 - musicmantrice (04/29/2012) [-]
It does not work that way and your ignorance is astounding on the teachings of my faith. There are rules set out in the Bible as to how you follow your faith. There is one interpretation. It is the only correct way. Pre-destination is wrong and so therefore no Calvinists are not Christians. Christianity is its own religion. Catholics and Calvinists would be on an outer line as if it were a larger denominational scale. There are 4 Christian walks and only those 4 interpret the Bible in a way that follows his teaching correctly. Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, and Episcopalian. Catholics do not follow it in the way the Lord commanded and so are not considered Christian. Quakers, Calvinists, Jehovas Witnesses, etc. None of them are considered Christian because they are omitting parts of the Bible. This discussion is over and I really don't care what you think. I'm just telling you because I am a Christian and I know this for a fact. Argument over

so do tell me then why Catholicism has existed with the Holy Bible for 2 millenia and Protestantism has only been around for 500 years? Oh, and perhaps you might want to reread the Bible again. Matthew 16:18 is a good start. The Bible was compiled by the Early Church, meaning the Catholic Church. All the Church Fathers were under the supreme authority of the Pope. And we are the ones ommitting parts of the Bible? So tell me where the Books of Tobit, Judith, the Book of Wisdom, Sirach (a.k.a. Ecclesiasticus), Baruch, 1 and 2 Maccabees, 7 chapters in the Book of Esther, and 2 chapters and a prayer in the Book of Daniel are in your Protestant Bible? And tell me, how did Peter, Paul, and all the disciples and Early Christians in the first centuries survive without a Bible? For you to tell the Church where the Bible itself came from is interpreting it incorrectly is ludicrous. Even Martin Luther himself credited the Catholic Church for the Bible. As much as you refuse to believe it, the Bible did not fall out of the sky and did not appear from nowhere. It was written by men, inspired by the Holy Ghost. And do not try to discredit me. I know much more about theology than you do. The Bible is not the only source of Truth. If it was, then you are calling all the apostles and the early Christians not Christian. Your argument is invalid, false, and blasphemous. You not only insult the billions of faithful Catholics throughout the ages, but you insult the Apostles, and even Christ Himself, who founded the Catholic Church when he said to Peter, "Thou art Rock, and upon this Rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Your unwillingness to listen to other people's viewpoints is showing of your ignorance. So you are running out of supporters. I am a proud Catholic, and there is nothing that you or anyone can say that will diminish my fidelity to the Church and the Truth She teaches. I will pray for your conversion of heart.

Your closed-mindedness is astounding. Way to give Christians a good name. Your convoluted understanding of reality must mean that you can barely get through the day, I'm sorry that the world is big and scary. Heaven forbid that someone else might actually be right.

I'm sorry, man, I hope God gives you the strength of understand and compassion. I will pray for that!

Lets look at some facts
1. You constantly tell other people they are wrong and insult their intellect throughout the whole argument, what happened to love everybody as God has loved you? John 13:34.

And I am a Catholic and wow. You are horribly misinformed.

Why are you guys fighting?? both of you guys believe in the Gospel.. ( the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ ). so you guys should be more concerned with showing others what the Gospel is about and Jesus' teachings.. not the useless stuff around it that different denominations have created.. Catholics and Christians have their good parts and bad parts, but that doesn't mean we need to fight each other trying to be the right side.. God doesn't want that, he wants all of us to spread his word to those who don't know him... and we shouldn't get angry at atheists for not understanding our side.. if they choose not to believe, then that's their own right.... Now lets all come together and spread the good news and love our neighbor..
User avatar #21 to #20 - Chuckaholic (04/29/2012) [-]
Because 1 refuses to acknowledge catholics as christians. If what he says is true then the true christians he mentioned above came from a non-christian religion. I'm atheist and catholics are as much christians as protestants or anyone else.
