eh, they give the people something to enjoy - a break from reality. It is the same reason a person would play video games, read, or hang out with friends.

Video game professionals get paid thousands per game, so yes. And reading if your a critic you will get paid dozens of thousands per book you read. So yeah, stop bitching about how sports get paid to much. It entertains people and is a great amount of fun. I play tennis and love it, Varsity freshman. Only been playing for 6 months and am as good as people who have been playing the whole life, why ? because I ******* love tennis and try my best to train my body for it.

except video games CAN be used to educate people, very easily, you quite often learn things from video games without even realizing, sports, however, very rarely teach anyone anything, and more often than not, sports-persons earn inconceivably more than video-game designers.

Unlike most of the people on here, sports provide many educational needs to people like talking to other humans to achieve a goal

I have to disagree with you when you say that sports don't teach people anything. Not only do they provide physical fitness, they teach kids quite early in their life about team work and the importance of working with others.
