America do have a government that consists of leaders that are almost chosen by a select few. It costs a hell of a lot of money to run for President and only a few can afford it.

"forcible suppression of opposition" . Well i think after Vietnam, Korea, Iraq, Libya, Egypt and Afghanistan we can all agree on that one. Or do we need an Iran and Syria just to make sure?

i wasn't trying to exaggerate. America 50-70 years ago was a lot more free than it is today

70 years ago Americans were not scared of terrorism

70 years ago Americans did not get nearly as much money taken off them in taxes

70 years ago the government could not legally hold American citizens indefinitely

70 years ago, lobbyists had way less power than compared with today

70 years ago, Americans were not entrenched with trillions of dollars worth of debt

70 years ago, America could not go to war on a whim without going through congress.

I hate when people say blah blah this country isn't free anymore since Bush/Obama took the presidency. Honestly... there's not a damn thing that's changed for me in all my 21 years of life... It's still the same since I was ******* 10!!

On another note, America does have it good. People take that freedom for granted and that's why they say we're not really "free" anymore.

Most of what you said doesn't really direct to freedom, the terrorism thing? yeah that doesn't affect our freedom. People want the government to protect them and watch out for them, but when they try to, people get all pissy and say that they're freedoms are being violated. So what do you want? freedom? protection? both? then shut up and stop complaining.

Well actually people fail to notice small changes. The Patriot act. That has happened in the last 21 years. Is that not something that has changed?

In the last few decades, the American government have almost single handedly created terrorism towards the US. The vast majority of Americans don't want to be at war. That is what THEY WANT

On the contrary, the people on the streets are the ones not taking their freedoms (or what they have left) for granted. Rather it is the people who sit back and say "well it's better than China" that are taking their rights for granted

Maybe not freedom lost, but there is more government control, and more harsh penalties for things that years ago may not have been considered that bad.
