My great grandpa was supposed to be on the titanic, but the night before, his friends threw him a going away party, and he got so drunk that he passed out and missed it.
If he didn't, I wouldn't be alive.

I've commented this before, I post this on most Titanic posts I see, because people seem to think it's pretty cool.

Well, as long as his great grandpa wasn't a jerk or high class or something, he probably wouldn't be alive, because it was women and kids first.

That's true in theory, but there are several things wrong with that.
1. The chances that he'd be in the same place he met my great grandpa at the same time he met her would probably be extremely small. He'd probably meet a different woman, so my grandpa would be completely different, which would make me dad completely different, which would make me a completely different person.
2. Even if he did end up meeting her again, it would add up to being seconds, or possibly days or something later to the moment my grandpa was conceived, causing a different sperm to fertilize my great grandma's ovaries or whatever, causing my entire lineage up to him to be thrown off, so they'd all be different people.
Technically yes, I'd still be alive, but I'd be a completely different person.

If you want to get into the butterfly effect, prepare to be tripped.
Him not getting on the titanic, which resulted in my existence, also influenced the future of everyone who read my comment.
Any children anyone who read this comment has after reading it will have a different child than they would if they didn't, because in the three or four seconds it took them to read it, several of their sperm cells died, and several new ones were created.
Even if it's in 20 years, the moment they have the orgasm into their wife's vagina that conceives their kid would be that three or four seconds later than it would be in an alternate universe where they didn't read my comment.
In this universe their kid could have their mom's brown hair, and their dad's blue eyes, but in a universe where they didn't read my comment, they could have their mom's brown eyes and their dad's blonde hair.

If you respond with a long comment, my kid will be a completely different person than if you respond with a short comment, due to the time it takes to read.

"And this is Jackass"..?

You mean "Welcome to Jackass". I apologise, but I read it in Knoxville's voice and it just didn't make sense.

ironic how he survived ALL of those insanely dangerous stunts while sustaining many painful injuries, only to be killed by drunk driving, of all things
